Our stay at Melia Serengeti Lodge was nothing short of a dream from the moment we arrived till the very end. The property itself is situated at a beautiful spot within the Serengeti, with incredible views all around the place ranging from the room to the dining area to the pool. Every small detail was taken care of effortlessly, yet you could tell how much care went into making the experience exceptional. Our room was always spotless, and we were provided with every amenity you could think of, ranging from binoculars to view the wildlife from our room, an extensive range of toiletries, ample mosquito and bug repellents, and clean linens. Each room was equipped with mosquito nets/screens by the bed and windows, and the staff would come by every evening to open them and ensure everything was properly set up. The food and service were another highlight. Every day, we would be met with a new four/five-course meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Not only did the food taste splendid, but what made it extra special for us was that the staff knew our dietary requirements and were mindful of them without us having to repeatedly explain it each time. They took such care to make sure we enjoyed the food, were comfortable, and always had plenty of options to choose from. This review would be incomplete without a very special mention of Pius, who was assigned to coordinate every little detail of our stay. Every day, he made sure our plans were exactly as we wanted them to be and that anything we needed was taken care of. He was attentive, kind, and incredibly thoughtful. On game drive days, he would arrange snacks and meals for us to take along, and remembered little details - like the fact that my husband and I liked Diet Coke, which showed up stocked in the car’s mini fridge every day after we mentioned it once on the first day. Our guide for the game drives, Matthew, who was arranged by the hotel through Dolphin Tours and Safaris, was outstanding and added so much to our stay. With an experience of over twenty-five years, his knowledge of animal behaviour and patterns as well as his willingness to go above and beyond to spot every animal near us was something that made this entire trip so wonderful for us. Our time there would not have been the same without him, his expertise, and wonderful personality. Melia Serengeti gave us a true luxury experience, but it was the warmth, personalisation, and attention to detail that made it unforgettable. We would love to return here without hesitation.
