Hafaldan HI Hostel - Harbour Building

I have absolutely fallen in love with this place! This was my first hostel experience and it did not disappoint. To start off with, the location is breathtaking and added to the quality of the stay but the inside of the hostel was super cute and clean as well! I stayed in the dorm room which I honestly thought was the perfect size and was nicely organized. Everyone staying there was very respectful of each other’s space and the overall noise level as well. All the amenities were #1 there and #2 super easy to find and use and the service was great because again for a hostel completely booked full it was basically spotless.

I did not stay in the "Old Hospital" hostel, but in the "Harbour building" of Hafaldan Hostel (located above the town's old harbour, thus less centrally) and absolutely recommend this charming, cozy accommodation in another sensibly renovated, historical building, with a well-equipped, cozy kitchen and living room and many games, books etc. The only regret is that the staff is near-to absent, so that you cannot even meet someone to say "thank you" for providing this nice introduction to Icelandic hospitality, or to ask about the very interesting town of Seydisfjördur and its surroundings.

Great place for backpackers and other travelers alike. Easy to book online. Large rooms and great communal spaces. Very clean. Hot sauna was a nice extra. Plenty of communal bathrooms and showers. Well stocked kitchen with all appliances needed for cooking, and also a great spot to meet fellow travelers.

Love the history of the building & in general the hostel is a very good one, even having a sauna in the basement, which I didn’t have time to make use of unfortunately. One major negative was the lighting in the shower area, I was up early & the only one in the showers. In the middle of my shower, the lights went off. Potentially very dangerous as I had to grapple around in the dark, put a towel on & exit the shower to switch the basement lights back on. So, the basement lights are on a timer. Bare that in mind if you are down there alone.

Great location with amazing view. The common area was super cute. The host take care of little details and created a very cozy environment. The rooms could use some upgrade as well as the shower area but it was all clean and perfect for a few nights stay.

We booked the apartment which was very spacious, could easily accommodate 4 with a fold out sofa as well as a double bed. Included our own kitchen and bathroom facilities. The apartment was light and airy, private and had a lovely feel. Shower fitting a bit dodgy and some early morning heavy footed stomping, but to be expedited in a hostel and an older style building. Certainly not enough to put us off staying again. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the vibe of both the hostel and the whole town was very positive. Some excellent hiking directly from town into the surrounding hills.

Manager is kindness, and kitchen is very equipment & spacious. We will recommend tourists here. We have a good time in hafaldan hostel. Location is near church and beautiful scenery. 숙소의 가성비도 좋고, 직윈이 매우 친절하여 우리가 3년전에 예약을 하였는데도 불구하고 예약의 연기와 환불도 해 주었다.

Perfect place to visit East Iceland, in a nice city by the sea. The hostel is equipped with an excellent kitchen and nice amenities. The personnel is very nice, and so is the building. Also, perfectly located in the town center.

Very nice little guesthouse in thebeasyfjords of iceland, breathtaking views. Everything was clean and tidy, there is a nice well equipped kitchen, washing machine and sauna!! Really recommend this place.
