Putian Meibo Hotel (Shanghai Railway Station)

Good budget hotel close to the station. The hygiene was ok, clean towels everyday and bed every three days. However they did not always clean the floor as we still found hairs. The provided utilities are basic, no hand soap. The shower gel and shampoo is provided in small 1 time use bags. However their service can be improved. Multiple times the staff at the counter looked angry and not approachable. Once I lost a package and I had to call the courier, but since I don't have a Chinese phone number I asked if the staff could help me call with their phone, but they didn't want to as it was "too annoying ' (I speak a little bit of Chinese and they said 太麻烦 ).

Really unimpressed with this hotel. Initially walked in to rubbish all over the corridor. Checked in and went to our room, on the way to the room there was more rubbish scattered over the floor, a melted ice cream mushed into the carpet and a huge hill in the middle of the corridor so large that we could barely drag our suitcases across it. Other people staying in the hotel were being extremely loud with their doors wide open, and walking around the public areas with lit cigarettes (bear in mind it was past 2am). Then when we got to our room, there was a brown mark on the bed sheets, mould in the bathroom, a hole in the ceiling, and a clear damp problem as the walls were peeling away. I took pictures and went straight to reception as the room looked nothing like the pictures and straight away agreed that in the morning I would check out and get a refund for the nights I didn’t end up staying there. They offered me a free room upgrade but I felt so uncomfortable in this hotel that I refused and got my money back. Do not stay here - looks nothing like the images. Messy, dirty, and smelly.

Hotel recomended for a business trip. The guy in the reception was very helpful.

Hotel is very bad, room is very small and smelly. No air-conditioning and hotel staff is not cooperative. Worst hotel experience. Complete waste of money
