5-Star Stay at Sofitel Shanghai North Bund – Couldn’t Fault It! Proper impressed with this place! The French decor’s lovely, rooms are spacious and so comfy, and those LANVIN toiletries? Such a nice touch. The floor-to-ceiling windows with the views? Cherry on top. But a massive shoutout to Sydney – she made the whole stay feel so easy. Asked her for local tips before arriving, and she gave such helpful bits. Even sorted a little extra I needed in the room super quickly, no faff. Total star. Will 100% book here again next time I’m in Shanghai. Top notch!

The Design of the hotel is fantastic. Leaning towards modern contemporary. Hotel breakfast variety not bad, staff very attentive. Room cleanliness very good. Location likewise currently a little awkward not many restaurants choice around. However, 10mins to the Bund. Nevertheless, if I am offer another chance I will return again.

Very pretty hotel, is clean and staff is friendly, only one thing that need to mention is nothing around the hotel , even a convenience store need to walk 10 mins. Everything u need to order from meituan.and no public transportation, but the location is convenient when u grab the car to every popular spot

I recently stayed 2 nights at Sofitel Shanghai North Bund, a newly opened property (May 2025). While the location is convenient for visiting the Bund and nearby attractions, my overall experience was extremely disappointing. The check-in staff were friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the upgrade to room 2306 on the 23rd floor. The room was spacious, clean, and reasonably quiet despite surrounding construction. The gym on the 6th floor is large and well-equipped. However, the breakfast experience was a complete disaster. Upon arrival on the first day, no one escorted me to a table or offered coffee or tea. Later, when I wanted a coffee at the machine, there was no staff available. After asking at reception, I was told I had to find a waiter myself. When I finally located a waiter, his attitude was utterly unacceptable, as if he were doing me a favor by making coffee. He started the coffee on the machine and immediately walked away, forcing me to go behind the counter to get it myself. Meanwhile, the chef was shouting loudly in the dining area, making the environment uncomfortable and unprofessional. I reported these issues to reception, and the hotel manager contacted me, apologized, and promised to send a fruit plate to my room. I specifically requested that it be delivered after 7 PM, as I would be out most of the day. Despite this, the fruit was delivered at 1:15 PM while I was resting before a meeting, disrupting my brief downtime, a clear failure to honor the agreed timing. Later that evening, there was no water in the bathroom due to a pump issue affecting the whole hotel. While I appreciated being moved to Suite 1003 thanks to the manager on duty (which also gave me some Chinese sweets as a present), which was a thoughtful gesture, this incident added to an already frustrating experience. The second morning at breakfast (6:30 AM, opening time), most of the dishes were not ready, and there was no staff available to make coffee or clear tables. I had to prepare my own coffee again from the automatic machine, which is simply unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. I understand that the hotel is newly opened, but poor service cannot be excused. If a hotel is not ready to provide proper service, it is better to delay the opening than to offer an experience that falls so far below expectations. Given the price, I cannot recommend this hotel. There are other nearby hotels at the same cost that offer significantly better service, especially in terms of dining.
