Zhexuejia Hotel (Shanghai Bund Xiaonanmen Subway Station)

The hotel is clean, and housekeeping is done every day. The ventilation is good, and the location is excellent: you can take the elevator directly from the hotel down to the metro station, where there are also places to eat. The front desk staff are friendly and welcoming.

I had a good stay at this hotel. The room was comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well, which was appreciated. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and I would recommend this hotel.

Well. I did expect different results. I arrived super late in the night due to flight delays and issues booking a taxi on rain. Arrived late at night I didn’t find the entry and took me a while to find it by myself because the cellphone guy was talking only Chinese. All wet I arrived and he told me my room is far away because I arrived late even though I announced 3 days before my arrival that I got a late flight. Anyway, the room was very far from the exit and very small, my luggage couldn’t properly enter or to open it so I requested to leave.

The stay was great, the location is perfect, 30 minutes walk from the Bund, and the stuff at the front desk was super friendly, they made my stay much more comfortable.

The term washer/dryer in the title of the room corresponds to nothing. Location ok, Nice staff, clean room. Very small and no soundproofing at all. Needed to wait 2hours after checking time because the room was not ready.

Overall, this hotel offers good value for the price. The location is excellent. Metro Line 9 is directly underneath the hotel, and you can even take the elevator straight down to the station, which makes getting around Shanghai very convenient. There is also a food court, a coffee shop, and a CHAGEE on the lower level, so it’s easy to grab something to eat or drink without going far. Yu Garden is about a 30-minute walk away, or around 10 minutes by bus or bicycle. Thanks to the convenient transport connections, you can reach most places in the city quite quickly. The room is small and not perfectly clean, but it is acceptable considering the price. The biggest downside is that the room smelled like cigarette smoke, which was unpleasant. Overall, if you’re looking for a budget-friendly hotel in a great location, this is a reasonable choice.
