Intercity Hotel Shanghai The Bund Nanjing East Road

If you're looking for a hotel near Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street that offers both quality and value, look no further. (Big thanks to Trip.com for allowing unlimited review length and generous reward points). ♡ [My Thoughts]: I came to Shanghai on Jan 4th for an exhibition at the Convention and Exhibition Center, planning to stay two nights near Nanjing East Road and two nights near Disneyland. However, choosing a hotel proved challenging. I found that hotels in the Nanjing East Road area were far more expensive than I expected, or they had unsatisfactory windows, size, or layouts. I finally stumbled upon this hotel in a video by a blogger who reviewed various hotel stays. Being a 'J' personality (like a planner), I meticulously compared dozens of hotels before settling on this one. (I tend to be more considerate when traveling with others, hence the extensive research.) My experience after the first night was incredibly satisfying, and I'll definitely prioritize this brand for future trips. ♡ [Detailed Experience] ① Hotel Location: Head north from the hotel, cross two intersections, and you're at Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street. It's also not far from Nanjing East Road, Dashijie, People's Square, and Yu Garden subway stations. It’s quiet despite being in a bustling area—an excellent location. ② Surroundings: As a diligent planner, it's essential to collect information on good food and attractions around popular tourist spots. Downstairs is a Deyuan Lanzhou Beef Noodle restaurant, certified delicious by a Gansu native who's lived in Shanghai for years (I'm going to try it tomorrow morning, teehee). Other nearby eateries include Guanguanji, Shucaiji, Shen Dacheng, Ruby, Chenji Seafood Restaurant, Meiweijia, Xiangjiang Mingyuan, Lailai Xiaolong, Xun Yuji, Jichangxing Crab Roe Noodles, and Shangshangqian Hotpot (listed clockwise around the hotel). These are all places I saved from various guides, but unfortunately, I didn't have time to try them all (ToT). There's so much to explore, like walking from MOG, M&M's, TOP TOY, MINISO, Bailian ZX Creative Hub, Pop Mart, New World Daimaru Department Store (check out the rotating escalator), GII KAWAII, Peace Hotel, all the way to the Bund. Almost all of these are massive flagship stores, perfect for those who love small trinkets, especially Pop Mart's new Disney collection – every single one is incredibly cute! ③ Price: At 700+ RMB for the cheapest room, I think it's reasonable for this area. Combined with the stay experience, the value for money is relatively high. I'm also grateful to the front desk sister who upgraded me to a 1.8m king-size bed room (so touched!). I just discovered Trip.com has an even better package: 1200 RMB for two nights, including breakfast. If your plans are set, book it without hesitation, though it seems availability is limited. ④ Service Attitude: All the staff I encountered were lovely. Feel free to ask if you have any needs; overall, their attitude was excellent and reliable. ⑤ Details: I was very pleased with the room type. The soundproofing was great, and the overall decor felt high-quality. It has a separate wet and dry area, and I appreciate the separate sink, toilet, and shower. The shower had no water stains, and the water was comfortable, though a bit hot for me, which was acceptable. There were tissue boxes on both the sink and desk, and the slippers were thick. There are many places to put things in the room; I particularly liked the bedside tables and the convenient charging ports. The TV is large, unlike some hotels where they're too small to watch properly. Both the bed and pillows were very comfortable. For those who use disposable pillowcases, if yours are ≥ 80*52cm, they'll fit perfectly. After the upgrade, the mini-fridge had drinks, but I'm not sure if the basic room type includes them. During my stay, they provided 4 bottles of mineral water daily, so I never worried about running out. I forgot to take photos during check-in, but the room is a mess now, so I'll try to add pictures after the second night. ⑥ Food Delivery: I saw delivery robots zipping around, so they should be able to deliver directly to your room. However, I went downstairs to pick up my order and discovered an incredible variety of food nearby. It was also quite amusing when entering the elevator: the robot insisted I go in first, not moving until I stepped in, then it followed. So funny! ♡ [Half-Day Tour Route Sharing] Today, I tried a short route: leaving at noon, heading north two blocks to the pedestrian street, then walking towards the Bund. You can browse from MINISO all the way to the Bund. Along the way, you might try Jichangxing Crab Roe Noodles; I recommend the branch near the Bund's historic buildings (I only remembered there was one by the Bund after eating at another branch…). A group purchase on Douyin offers a couple's meal for just over 200 RMB; the taste is decent, and the price is acceptable. I figured since I'm spending money anyway, I might as well choose a place with a good environment and location (◍•ᴗ•◍). After reaching the Bund, you can find a place to sit and rest. Around 4 PM, you can take a taxi to the Sihang Warehouse (the wall is quite impressive). If you want to visit the memorial hall, go earlier. Then, you can take a taxi to the Xintiandi area to experience the nightlife. A stroll around is neither tiring nor boring, and taxi fares are usually just over ten yuan (after using coupons). It’s a very sensible route! ♡♡♡ Everything above is written from a tourist's perspective. Big thumbs up for this hotel! The lobby was clean and tidy, and the staff were warm and professional. Check-in was quick and efficient. The room was spotless, with all the amenities you could ask for, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, guaranteeing a good night's sleep. The location is also fantastic, with plenty of great food options nearby. Breakfast was abundant and delicious. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit!

The hotel boasts a very convenient downtown location, making it incredibly easy to get around! The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast offered a vibrant spread with plenty of options – everything you could want. The hotel staff provided excellent service, and I felt a real sense of warmth here. It was a wonderful stay!

The king-size bed rooms only offer 1.8m beds if you opt for the 'Exclusive' category; all others are 1.5m, which is a bit of a letdown. However, the hotel is very clean, and the food, especially, is excellent, with even a late-night snack option. Conveniently, there's a Gusu noodle restaurant across the street that serves delicious crab roe noodles, and a bookstore right next door. Nanjing Road is just two blocks away, so the location is super convenient. Great location, great food, great hygiene, but the room and bed are a bit small. The staff are also very enthusiastic.

This was my first time staying at this hotel, and I had a really great experience. The breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of options, so you could choose whatever you liked. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The gym was also very good, offering free workout equipment. This hotel is genuinely fantastic, and I highly recommend everyone give it a try!

1. It's about an 8 to 10-minute walk from the Bund. 2. There are many restaurants nearby, and it's about a 5 to 7-minute walk to Nanjing East Road subway station. 3. The service attitude was excellent; they were very responsive to all requests. 4. The room was incredibly hot and dry; I had to dress in summer clothes. It got slightly better after turning off the AC, but the temperature wasn't comfortable. According to room service, not all rooms are like this. I suggest the hotel provide humidifiers.
