The receptionists are extremely nice people who will lend you a helping hand when you need it. The cleaning staff are nice people too and commit to daily housekeeping.
The location is ideally close to Fudan University through a 6 to 12 minutes cycling, with a good pharmacist nearby should you need help with local medicine (e.g., fever, cold) and there are convenient stores within a short walking distance. Access to 24/7 hot water, fridge, electric kettle and free room wifi.
Additionally, there is a cabinet dedicated to deliveries and a backroom near reception for your packages.
You can wash your clothes at the third floor above the reception area with the washing machine and manually dry your clothes. Just have to bring your own detergent, you can buy it on Taobao or the Lian Hua convenient store nearby.
The only downside is that the place is old and maintained enough to function (don’t expect 4-5 star hotel furnishing standard), such as leaky celling and aircon not blowing cold air anymore (luckily it happened a day before my last day). Minor stuff like moulding ends of the shower curtain (typical because of humidity), chipped tables and dented flooring. It really depends on the room you get.
All in all, this place is genuinely ok if you want to get some of these advantages, with these disadvantages in place.
