Hengshan Garden Hotel

The hotel's location is excellent. For some reason, it's been hard to get a taxi lately – either there are none nearby or there are over 100 people ahead in the queue. Luckily, it's only a 300-meter walk to the subway, which is fine. While the room and furniture are a bit old, the size is decent. A check on the hardware would be great; for instance, the drain stopper in the sink doesn't hold water, and there are no USB ports or charging cables provided (though they were very quick to bring one when requested). Both the front desk and guest services staff were wonderful, making me feel like I'd stepped back into the 1930s. A big plus is that the swimming pool is open until 10 PM, and it's very clean, with bath towels provided in every locker. If you're looking for breakfast outside, there's a Fuchun Xiaolong nearby that's delicious. Overall, it's a great hotel in Xujiahui that offers a quiet escape amidst the hustle and bustle.

The room was spacious, clean, and had a classic feel, with comfortable bedding. Guests can swim and use the gym, which is a big plus. I'd come again if I have the chance!

This is a hotel I've stayed at repeatedly. The slippers are comfortable and thick-soled, and the toiletries are excellent, especially the shampoo – my hair feels smooth after using it. Usually, I can't use hotel shampoo and have to bring my own, but that's not an issue here. It's a 5-minute walk from the subway station. Downstairs, there's a small bar, a Japanese restaurant, an Italian restaurant, and a coffee shop. It's also close to Urumqi Road, about a 6-minute bike ride, and there's a lovely crystal shop nearby.

I always book this hotel whenever my friends visit Shanghai. It's conveniently located, offering a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. The service is excellent, and the rooms are clean, tidy, and comfortable. The swimming pool is also a great bonus. I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The rooms are well-maintained and in great condition. The Shangri-La's Chinese restaurant, Meilongzhen, offers local cuisine at relatively affordable prices. The hotel boasts excellent transportation links and is situated in the historic Hengfu cultural district.

The location is excellent, right in the heart of the Hengfu historical and cultural area. The hotel is surrounded by green spaces and parks, making for a very pleasant walking environment. Overall, the hygiene is acceptable, but the decor is a bit hard to comment on. The lobby is filled with gaudy, country-style artificial flowers, which doesn't really fit the aesthetic you'd expect from an old Shanghai hotel that has hosted so many dignitaries; it looks more like something from a fifth-tier town. The bedding in the guest rooms felt quite damp, and the pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. The facilities are generally dated, and the TV was almost unusable. Hygiene, however, was still decent.

First off, the hotel's location is excellent, nestled on Hengshan Road with its beautiful plane trees, and it's very close to Huaihai Road. Secondly, the staff are incredibly welcoming, and they even offer turn-down service. I've extended my stay multiple times and have always been very satisfied.

The hotel's location and surroundings are quite good. It has its own garden, and right across from the VIP building exit are Wanping Park and Xujiahui Greenbelt. The room facilities are comprehensive, and breakfast is decent. The staff's service attitude is also very good. However, there are a few things I'd like to complain about: 1. **Parking:** There's no direct access between the parking lot and the hotel. You have to walk down stairs and then across a section of ground. Some areas in the parking lot had an unpleasant smell. I was told I could contact the front desk for a shuttle, but if it's too early (around 6 AM), there's no one available to drive. So, I had to walk to the parking lot in the pouring rain. 2. **USB Ports:** There were no USB ports on the room walls. When I asked the front desk, they said it was because the hotel was older and simply didn't have them. However, I coincidentally found a multi-functional power strip with several USB ports in the desk drawer. Clearly, the staff wasn't aware of this. 3. **Coffee Incident:** While drinking coffee at the lobby bar downstairs in the VIP building, I later found a several-centimeter-long thin plastic strip in my drink. The young ladies there were stumped and couldn't explain how it happened. Overall, the hotel is good, but further training for the staff is definitely needed.

The hotel's biggest plus is its excellent location; after dinner, you can simply stroll around and soak in the sights and flavors of Shanghai. To be honest, the facilities could use some upgrades and renovation, but that doesn't change my overall positive impression. The service attitude was generally satisfactory, though I hope that a few front desk staff members, whose conduct somewhat diminished the hotel's image, receive further training in service philosophy and standardization. This would help them better embody Shanghai's characteristic grandeur, humility, and inclusiveness.
