The biggest issue is the motion-sensor light in the hallway. What do I mean? If you toss and turn in bed, or if it senses anything, it automatically turns on!!!!!!!! Seriously, isn't that ridiculous? How can anyone get a good night's sleep? Who would dare to sleep? Even with the bedside lamp off, there's still light, so the only option is to remove the bulb 💡. The hardware is just too old. It's a very strange lighting setup.

The room decor was very unique and the hotel is right in the heart of Xintiandi. The front desk and concierge service were both very nice. However, on the second afternoon, the doorbell suddenly rang three times rapidly, and then the room door was quickly opened. I was groggily waking up from a nap, and thankfully the safety chain on the door stopped it from opening fully, otherwise, I would have had an awkward face-to-face encounter with the housekeeping auntie 😅. There was no sound system in the room; they brought up a small portable speaker that died after only a few hours of use 😓. Also, there were only two bottles of water in the room, and I had to call for more. The room amenities also needed to be requested (though the front desk explained this was due to an environmental policy, which I guess is understandable).

The best part of this hotel is the restaurant on the second floor. The breakfast features authentic local Shanghai snacks, which are absolutely delicious. However, it feels like the air conditioning on the 23rd floor is running for free! It's freezing cold. Even with the temperature set to the maximum 26.5 degrees Celsius, it still feels like 22 degrees, making you shiver. Also, the bedding is quite poor; even a 'Quanjin' hotel (a budget chain) has better. The duvet is as thin as a sheet, and it's still cold when you cover yourself with it. Although the towels are large, their low density makes them feel like something you'd find in a three-star hotel at best.

Check-in was very efficient. Summer at the front desk was so thoughtful; she proactively informed us about the scenic advantages of higher floor rooms, the minibar policy, and pool opening hours. We had previously requested a high-floor room, which she kindly arranged. Her attitude was friendly and professional. Noticing our child was in a wheelchair, she specifically assigned us a room away from the elevators, hoping it would allow for better rest. The stay started off very comfortably, and housekeeping and in-room service response times were excellent; most requests were fulfilled within minutes. All drinks in the room's mini-bar were complimentary, including Coke, sparkling water, and tea, which was very convenient for late-night thirst. There were no hidden charges, which was a nice touch. The branded toiletries were wonderful for a relaxing bath. The shower had excellent water pressure and a dry/wet separation, and the room was equipped with a Dyson hairdryer and a smart toilet. Everything was clean, tidy, and amenities were promptly replenished. The room's soundproofing was excellent; the bustling street noise below was completely imperceptible. It was great to have a quiet retreat amidst the city's hustle and bustle.

Excellent environment and hygiene. Iris provided thoughtful and attentive service. The location is convenient and offers great value for money. Overall, a fantastic stay, highly recommended!
