Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai

The location is excellent, within walking distance to Ocean Park and the Oriental Pearl Tower. The night river view is beautiful, and the morning view is also great. The room is spacious, and the wall where the bathrobes hang in the bathroom was consistently warm, which was a nice touch after a shower. Breakfast was decent, nothing extraordinary but still good. However, staff service training needs to be improved. There were water stains on the restaurant floor, and I slipped. There weren't many diners at the time, and when I told a staff member about it, they dealt with it immediately. But I noticed there was more than one spot with water stains, and I reminded them that there were children dining and that they should have the cleaning staff take care of all of it. However, the staff member suggested I shouldn't wear slippers to eat. So, it's my fault for wearing slippers that I slipped on the water-stained floor?

The Diplomatic Suite is incredibly spacious, offering fantastic views from the 25th floor. The overall design style is classic and dignified, feeling grand rather than dated. All room amenities worked perfectly; the TV allowed screen mirroring, and the massage tub, coffee machine, and Bluetooth speaker were all easy to use. The bedding was comfortable, the sofa was large, and the living room and dining area had huge floor-to-ceiling windows. The bedroom offered views from two sides, allowing us to watch the shimmering reflections on the Huangpu River during the day, and at night, enjoy an unobstructed view of the Bund's architectural clusters, Waibaidu Bridge, and the illuminated North Bund. The hotel staff were warm and polite, housekeeping kept the room spotless, and the turndown service was thoughtful. Room service deserves special praise – you can order anytime, and it usually arrives within 30 minutes. The burgers, fried noodles, pasta, cakes, and Chinese dishes all tasted excellent. The executive lounge service was also great. There were à la carte options for brunch, and light dinner options during happy hour. The staff were helpful with making coffee and serving à la carte dishes.

Room: Clean and tidy, with a beautiful night view of the Huangpu River right from the window. Food: Breakfast was plentiful. Location: Not far from the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, about a 10-minute walk, and also close to Lujiazui subway station.

Pros: Excellent location with unbeatable river views, and great service. The takeout lockers on the ground floor are also very convenient. Cons: IT WAS SO HOT!!!!!!!!!! This is the first time I've encountered a five-star hotel bathroom mirror that's hot to the touch, and even turning off the bathroom light didn't help. What can the engineering staff do when you've internally set the temperature to 24 degrees Celsius? Even with two floor fans delivered by housekeeping, you absolutely needed to put one fan at the bathroom door when you went in. It was so bad that after washing my face, before I could even dry it, sweat was already dripping down. I had one fan blowing towards the bed while I slept, and I still woke up hot both nights. The only cool place in the hotel was the lobby. The corridors from the elevator to the rooms also had no air conditioning, and the room temperature was a constant 24 degrees (as shown on the AC panel). If you're not sensitive to heat and even feel cold in summer to the point of needing long sleeves, then this hotel's service, location, and river view are all excellent! However, if you're sensitive to heat, please remove this hotel from your summer travel accommodation options.

The front desk staff provided excellent service; after a brief chat, they arranged a complimentary breakfast for my child. The location is superb, and with it being a major brand, the service quality is guaranteed. It's truly a high-value five-star hotel in Lujiazui.

The lobby is bright and smells lovely. The room is clean and tidy, and there were even welcome fruits. Everyone, from the greeter to the front desk staff, was very warm and welcoming. My daughter even left a little thank you note when we checked out!

Experience the full Shanghai skyline here, with a touch of old-money elegance and the distinct character of industrial-aristocrat middle age. It's a blend of order and ostentation. The river-view room offers surreal vistas, and the gym, seemingly suspended in mid-air, is practically within reach of the Oriental Pearl Tower.

I've stayed at Kempinski many times, and its location is unbeatable. Opening the curtains to the Huangpu River view is simply breathtaking. Before my arrival, the staff contacted me and offered two days of complimentary breakfast, and even upgraded my room. The room was huge, almost too big for two people, but I truly appreciated the generous gesture. The breakfast quality was consistently excellent; we always went late, almost at 10:30 AM, but items were replenished quickly. Housekeeping was also very thorough, and the front desk staff were lovely. Due to time constraints, I didn't get to dine at the hotel's restaurants, but there were plenty of options. It's just a few minutes' walk to the riverside, which is perfect. Shanghai is too hot right now; it would be even better to visit when it's cooler.

Free upgrade, warm and thoughtful service, and dedicated staff. Our taxi was late after check-out, and the doorman proactively helped us check its status. Luggage storage was convenient and secure. Highly recommend!
