This hotel is located in Caojiadu, right in the city center of Shanghai, not far from the subway station. There's an ALDI nearby, which is super convenient for groceries. Plus, food deliveries are brought to your room by a robot, which is a nice touch.
The front desk staff, especially one lady, was fantastic. She not only upgraded my room for free but also included two days of complimentary breakfast. She was also very resourceful. When the internet went down during check-in and they couldn't make a room key, she immediately had a bellboy escort me to my room and promised to bring the key up quickly. True to her word, the key arrived at my door in less than five minutes. While the breakfast selection wasn't huge, there was definitely enough to fill up on.
The hotel might be a bit older, as some of the facilities are showing their age. For instance, the kettle leaked profusely whenever I poured water. The sink faucet was fine initially, but on my last night, I noticed only hot water was coming out, with no cold. When I asked the housekeeping auntie, she said it might be a cross-connection issue and offered to send engineering to fix it. Since it was my last night, I figured I could manage and declined. Also, the caps on the bottled water in the room were incredibly difficult to twist open; my hand would hurt every time.
Other than those minor issues, everything else was great. The hallway was quiet, and there was no noise from the AC or mini-fridge, nor could I hear other guests showering or talking. Overall, it was a very satisfying stay, and I'd definitely come back if I have the chance.
