Riverdale Residence Xintiandi Shanghai

A very functional residence in a fantastic location, just a short walk from Xintiandi. The rooms are spacious, clean and equipped with everything you need. The property is slightly dated, but the excellent service makes the difference. The reception staff are extremely helpful and attentive to guests’ needs, especially Mr Terry.

Check in was very easy. Breakfast had a mix of local and American choices. 3veryone was very nice. Having a washer/dryer was perfect.

The Location of the hotel is great. Perfectly close by to some very nice malls while also being calm. Would recommend!

The location is excellent as it is within business district, shopping area and XTD with all fine dinning and gathering options. Furthermore, the room is clean and the staff are very friendly and supportive. So whatelse do anyone need if they were travelling for business, pleasure or just a short trip. The only thing I miss is that the hotel currently does not have a lounge that would allow the residents and tehir friends to enjoy the view.

Warning: worst WiFi connection ever! Unable to work effectively. So, plan extra time to order DiDi. Apartment smelled. I think because old building so vents were old and not cleaned?! Likely breathing toxic air. Bought mini air filter for my stay. Only gave 2 of everything and very stingy about getting anything like an extra face towel. Had to trade in a dirty towel for a new. Kitchen doesn’t have anything for cooking, not even salt. Refrigerator broke two times and they didn’t replace until the second call when my frozen food melted and water leaked. Needed to sign waiver to get a knife, another waiver for vegetable peeler (that didn’t work) and a third waiver to open patio door (which was unable to lock back unless staff returned with key). One closet had light attached incorrectly so it never turned off. Poor lighting at desk and no lighting by sofa. Front desk staff nice. Half cleaning staff nice and the other half had terrible attitude and not helpful. Breakfast overpriced and not good. I would not recommend staying here. Only good thing about staying here was having a laundry machine (and dryer in one). Thank you

Traveling with large family and booked multiple rooms. We arrived late afternoon while it was raining. Nobody came out to help us with our luggages. Entered the lobby and 2 front desk staff and 2 bellboys just stood there staring without any greetings or offerings of help. Check in took 25-30 minutes. We were each allocated rooms on different floors. Only way to access other floors was by using stairs or getting room keys for each of the floors. Majority of our rooms smelled like cigarettes and hallways were also filled with smell of cigarettes even though there were no smoking signs. Rooms look run down and a/c wasn't turned in before our arrival so rooms that didn't smell like cigarettes smelled stale. Our original room that smelled like cigarettes had a big damage on the wall that had been patched up with wallpaper. Our second room had wallpaper that looked unprofessional plastered. Bathroom door was warped, rugs were stained and next to no soundproofing between rooms. Could hear next door neighbors showering and drying their hair, upstairs guest and people talking and children screaming in hallway. Cleaning lady starts knocking on doors starting at 9 a.m. Walked in on our nephew who was in deep sleep when she didn't get an answer. Amenities are a bare minimum. Some rooms were missing slippers. No toothbrush or toothpaste until you ask for it when checking in. Tiny little tubes of shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and lotion and nothing else. Be prepared to bring shower caps, qtips, combs, etc yourself. Nephew went down first evening to ask for toothbrush and was told he would be charged. Throughout our entire stay, staff didn't ever greet us, smile or even show any interest in helping anyone with anything unless forced to. Didn't see bellboys do anything except stand next to front desk talking or picking their ears. Our daughters room was gifted with a new smell everyday, ranging from mildew to crab to poo scents on the final day. Location is not ideal either. Not close to any food or drinks. Has a tiny Lawsons about 5 minutes away.

I’ve stayed in this hotel for many years, when it was formerly Fraser Residences. The only reason I continue to stay here for my business trips is because it is walking distance to my office in Shanghai. Ever since it got sold to a local group, the condition has deteriorated year after year. Chipped wood, rusty fittings etc.
