Greentree Inn (Shanghai Jingan) Reviews

This hotel is super close to Jing'an Temple Renhe Restaurant, just a few minutes' walk away. It's clean, hygienic, and the soundproofing is surprisingly good – even though it's on a busy street, it wasn't noisy at night. Taxis are easy to catch. For the price, the value for money is absolutely fantastic!

Simple hotel, it was clean but had a smokey smell in the room mixed with takeaway food. Concierge staffs were friendly, great location easy access to public transport and nearby tourist spots.

The hotel isn't too far from Jing'an Temple and other attractions. However, the central air conditioning in my room wasn't working, and they provided an electric heater instead. It wasn't very effective at heating, but thankfully, it wasn't too cold outside.

Upon entering, there was a smoke smell, and the exhaust fan was broken. It took a whole day with the window open for it to air out. The room was quite damp, probably because there was no heating. When the air conditioning was on, the outdoor unit was loud. Soundproofing was poor; noises from the hallway outside the window were very clear. Sometimes the front desk was unstaffed. The upsides were a pretty good view from the window and a convenient location, just a 5-minute walk from Jing'an Temple Station.

The location is super convenient. It's in the Jing'an Temple commercial area, and Line 2 is less than a 10-minute walk away. There's a FamilyMart convenience store and the Jing'an Party and Public Service Center nearby, making it very easy to find food, work out, or read.

I asked for a quiet room, and the front desk did provide one that was relatively quiet and didn't disturb my sleep, so thank you for that. However, the room itself wasn't well-proportioned and only had one small window. There was always a lingering odor, like luosifen (river snails rice noodles), in the room. The window was broken and couldn't be locked, and the door frame was warped and coming off the wall. The TV had no signal, and the remote was broken. The landline phone didn't work, and the shower head was dirty. On the plus side, it was very close to where I needed to be and public transportation was convenient. The police station being nearby gave me a sense of security, even though I later heard this was the exact location of the former Wanguo Funeral Home. But that's okay, no need to worry, nothing out of the ordinary happened. I just treated it as an ethereal encounter with many famous people – not everyone gets to have such an experience. 300 a day, pretty good! 😊

I arrived at the hotel at 11 PM and found the bedsheets in my room were very dirty, with obvious ballpoint pen marks. I spoke to the front desk, and they were very helpful, quickly arranging a room change, so the issue was resolved. Later, a woman, who identified herself as staff, aggressively entered our room. Without a single apology, she verbally attacked my family and me, claiming we had made the marks ourselves. She insisted she bore no responsibility as a service employee. She rambled on and then just left, and no one helped us move our belongings to the new room. My mother and I had to move our luggage ourselves to the new room in the middle of the night. When I later reported this to the front desk, I was informed that this person was actually a manager. This stay was an extremely poor experience, and I will not be staying at any hotels in this group again.

Absolutely terrible stay, I have to give it a bad review!!! This is the first time I've ever seen an air conditioner installed directly above the center of the bed on the ceiling!!! The design is incredibly low-rent!!! Do you only care about making money and not about the customer's experience and feelings?? After realizing what a mistake I'd made, I contacted the front desk to change rooms, and they just bluntly refused!!! And let me tell you, your front desk female staff member has the worst attitude, tone, and competence of any hotel I've ever stayed at in all my years!!! Doesn't your boss train their staff?! Your hotel's front desk service is just abysmal!!! It completely ruined my perception of Shanghai's hospitality and charm! Your front desk staff acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me stay, with a 'take it or leave it' attitude. Does your boss even know about this!!! Uninformed customers would think your facilities are top-notch given how hard it is to get a room!!! Staying at your hotel has left a dark cloud over my entire impression of Shanghai!!! What kind of establishment is this? If you don't value your customers, you'll inevitably be rejected by the market and go out of business!!! I personally do not recommend staying at this hotel!!! This is just my personal experience, for the record!

Perfect Base: Great Location, Spotless, and Fantastic Value✅ This hotel is an excellent choice. The location is incredibly convenient for transportation and accessing the main attractions. The rooms and common areas are consistently very clean and well-maintained. Best of all, for the quality and convenience offered, the cost represents outstanding value for money. I would happily stay here again and recommend it to other travelers.

Extremely satisfied! The room was very comfortable overall, and the hotel's service was excellent. Breakfast had a great variety, and it was quiet and cozy – a really fantastic experience! This will be my top choice for business travel. Highly recommend!

GreenTree Inn is the dirtiest hotel I've ever seen! The duvet in the room had a filthy, stained inner core that kept coming out while I was sleeping! The carpet in the hallway was also black and truly disgusting! The air conditioner in the room was incredibly dirty as well, with dark grime on its surface, and the air blowing out of it was foul. I felt uncomfortable breathing all night and developed a cough! When I returned the key to the front desk attendant, she was completely unhelpful and cold. I will never choose to stay at such a dirty GreenTree Inn again!

I loved my stay at the Green Tree Inn. The location was good, the host was very kind, friendly and helpful. She helped me with all my queries and the rooms were spacious and clean.

The room was very clean, and the housekeeping staff were lovely. The front desk staff were great too; otherwise, I wouldn't be a returning customer, haha! There are plenty of dining options nearby, and it's super close to Jing'an Temple and everything else.

The room was very clean, and its proximity to Animal World was a huge plus. The surrounding area also offered convenient transportation and shopping options.
