Shangri-La Guoyun Yusu Homestay (Dukezong Ancient City)

This is one of the most special and memorable homestays I’ve ever stayed in. We stayed in a 4-bed female dorm, and everything was clean and comfortable. The bed was very soft, and the bed frame was extremely sturdy — I heard they were custom-made by the owner, which really shows the effort and care put into this place. The room also comes with a smart toilet, which was a big plus. They even provide disposable amenities, so everything feels very convenient and well-prepared. The location is great as well — it’s about 1 km away from Dukezong Ancient Town, and only around a 15-minute walk. Close enough to explore, yet quiet and relaxing. What touched me the most was during my stay in Shangri-La, I experienced some altitude sickness. The host was incredibly kind and attentive — they provided me with oxygen and kept checking on me to make sure I was okay. It really made me feel safe and cared for. The owner’s mothers were also very warm and welcoming, just like family. There’s a plum tree in the courtyard that was in full bloom — absolutely beautiful. And on my last night, it even snowed, which made the whole experience even more magical. One of the best parts of staying in a homestay is meeting new people, and I had the chance to make some new friends here as well. Overall, this is a place I would definitely come back to. Highly recommended!

the location is in the center but if you are solo traveling and u bring a big luggage, it might be hard for you to find the hotel. and the receptionist is not friendly

A very affordable yet comfortable stay, especially their large and wide dorm bed (comes with warmer too). The hostel is located not too far from Dukezhong Ancient City, you can take a 15 mins walk there, there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby as well. The male dorm tenants will have to share 1 bathroom so do plan your time ahead during peak season. Overall I'm very happy with the stay and will definitely come back again next time.

A very strange hotel! I was expecting something very basic in this ******* outpost but it was the most modern budget hotel i ever stayed in! Underfloor heating kept the room toasty, a heater in the bathroom with hot ( very hot) shower, electric blanket and my first ever heated toilet seat added to the comfort level The bed was comfy, there was a patio to dry clothes, really couldnt ask for more. I prefer somewhere with more character but if you like modern, well looked after hotels this is perfect. The area itself also quite devoid of character but the old town starts about 1 km away. The old lady who runs it is very sweet and booked me a taxi, letting me pay her instead of the taxi but she doesn't speak a word of english and doesn't seem to have a translation app so communication wasnt the easiest.

Very nice and clean, located outside the walled old town but not far away from points of interest. That way it's nice and quiet at night. They had electric blankets in the hostel beds and a laundry machine with ample space to hang clothes for drying. Staff were kind and welcoming. Thanks!

Location ok. But it is outside the old town walled city. Room was comfortable, nice bathroom with japanese toilet. They don't provide towels so bring your own. I just wish the receptionist was more helpful, you are on your own here. Also no others international tourist so very hard to socialize.
