Songtsam Shangri-la Linka

In the morning, our butler, Renqing Daji, who has spent eight years studying in India, took us on an in-depth tour of Songzanlin Monastery. He explained everything through his own insights – the principles of hearing, contemplation, and cultivation; body, speech, and mind; the Six Paths of Reincarnation; thinking of others before yourself; cultivating humanity; and how awakening can come in times of despair. He also shared the origin of Shangri-La, whose ******* name means 'Sun and Moon in the Heart,' and how this area is the core of the Three Parallel Rivers (Jinsha, Nujiang, and Lancang Rivers). In the early morning, outside the monastery, we could see elderly ******* men and women from the village doing their circumambulations. In the evening, uncles and aunties from the nearby Xiaojiezi Village performed their traditional dances. From afar, on the hotel hillside, we could also see the Manjushri Bodhisattva mantra made by the villagers. The hotel museum showcases ******* artifacts and Thangkas from the 15th to 19th centuries. Suggestion: The collection in the Songtsam Museum within the hotel is excellent; I hope they will add professional guided tours.

The hotel, built on a hillside, boasts a beautiful Tibetan-style design. The room layout is well-planned, the bedding is comfortable, and it features an electric bidet seat. Each room is also equipped with oxygen supply facilities, and an additional oxygen concentrator can be provided upon request. The hotel even has a doctor and a medical room with a low-pressure oxygen chamber available for use at any time. Airport transfers are handled by Land Rover Defenders, and they have their own VIP lounge at the airport, which is even better than the business class lounge inside security. The breakfast, afternoon tea, and evening drinks offer a rich variety and taste good. However, the value for money of the Chinese restaurant and hotpot for dinner was just average (in my personal experience). The most commendable aspect of the hotel is its service. It's clear that every staff member is well-trained and goes above and beyond to meet guests' needs. The complimentary guided tour of Songzanlin Monastery was a delightful surprise. The tour guide, a hotel employee, is a genuine and well-educated young ******* man with extensive knowledge of ******* Buddhism. He communicated effectively with guests and provided a very detailed explanation. The tour of the Songzan Museum was also excellent, showing that our ******* compatriots are people with deep faith.

The ultimate expression of ******* aesthetics. The hotel offers a rich variety of entertainment and delicious Chinese cuisine. You can also walk to Songzanlin Monastery.

No complaints whatsoever, apart from the price. The service provided was excellent. Definitely worth experiencing.

I've heard so much about Songtsam and this experience definitely lived up to the hype! Upon arriving at Shangri-La by high-speed train, Songtsam had a Land Rover waiting for us. Both the butler and concierge were incredibly welcoming. We arrived around noon, went straight to lunch, and they took care of our check-in and luggage without us having to lift a finger. The room was spacious, the pillows and mattress were very comfortable, and there was even diffused oxygen. The copper bathtub was particularly grand, and I loved the heated towel rack. The view of Songzanlin Monastery from the living room window was absolutely unbeatable. The hotel's afternoon tea offered a rich variety of treats, and they even gifted us tickets to Songzanlin Monastery. There's also a small museum within the hotel. When I had to unexpectedly change my plans due to a family emergency, the hotel staff actively helped me coordinate things in the early hours of the morning, which was incredibly thoughtful. They also arranged for my departure transfer. I'm already looking forward to my next stay!

Excellent experience. Very convenient for getting to the city center. The museum and Songzanlin Temple explanations were both great. Special thanks to our butler, Tashi Tsering, for being so conscientious, responsible, and thoughtful. We'll definitely come again.

When in Shangri-La, you absolutely must experience Songtsam Linka. It felt so serene and contemplative. Honestly, maybe it's because it's right next to Songzanlin Monastery, but the hotel felt almost otherworldly. The service was incredibly reassuring and made for such a blissful experience. And a special shout-out to the charming (and handsome!) butler, I loved it! 😍

This was my favorite hotel of the trip, and I really regret not staying here for the whole duration. I saw some negative reviews before booking, so I only booked one night – such a big regret! The hotel is very clean, and every detail has a local touch. The service was excellent; the butler contacted us the day before. The beef and pork noodle soup for breakfast were both delicious. You can see Songzanlin Monastery directly from the hotel, and you can even enter the monastery through the back gate! The small trinkets sold in the souvenir shop are super cute and not too expensive, making them perfect as gifts. I really love this hotel!

The room layout is well-designed, and the view of Songzanlin Monastery from the window is absolutely stunning. Breakfast and afternoon tea were also excellent. Most importantly, the service was top-notch. Our butler, Zhimalamu, was enthusiastic and attentive. In the evening, the hotel even arranged for local elders to perform traditional dances and share ******* culture. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'll definitely be back!
