Grand House Shaoxing

I'd been eyeing this hotel for years, and finally, after all that time, I got to stay there. Overall, I was extremely satisfied. The hotel's service was excellent; all the staff, from top to bottom, were incredibly friendly and made me feel comfortable. I could barely find anything to fault. The hotel's rose and moonflower walls were blooming beautifully and freely. The birds, squirrels, goats, and koi fish roamed around, all living their lives freely. Combined with the clear stream, stone bridges, and traditional boats of the ancient village, it felt incredibly natural and untouched, truly tranquil and full of Jiangnan charm. It's a rare sanctuary in the middle of a bustling city. The only minor drawback was that some of the smaller amenities, like the bedding, could use improvement. The quality of the pillows and linens was even inferior to what you'd find in a chain budget hotel, and the towels were a bit old. The shower pressure wasn't great either. However, despite that, I still highly recommend it! If you come during the off-season, the environment is superb, the location is good, the service is outstanding, and the value for money is incredible.

Stayed in a courtyard villa in the second phase, and it exceeded my expectations. The entire hotel environment is excellent, much better than Shaoxing Hotel and Xianheng Hotel where I've stayed before. It's very quiet and comfortable. The hotel even has its own Wupeng boats (traditional black-awning boats), so we took a boat trip to Yu the Great's Mausoleum, which was also beyond expectations. The whole hotel feels like a small village and is very picturesque. The service was also really nice; everyone from the front desk staff to the electric cart driver was super friendly and had a great attitude. The female server even had a sweet voice! The most pleasant surprise was the complimentary souvenir. I'll definitely be back to stay again!

Last autumn, I visited the Kaiyuan Tang in Ningbo and was thoroughly impressed with the brand. So, with spring in full bloom, I brought my whole family back to the Kaiyuan Tang in Shaoxing. The beautiful spring scenery and the pervasive floral fragrance captivated us; we didn't want to leave. Even my husband, a true hotel connoisseur, kept praising how wonderful it was. I'm incredibly grateful for Kaiyuan's service and their generosity. There's a good reason why I love Kaiyuan, and we'll definitely be back.

The hotel has a charming, antique village-like atmosphere. The room we stayed in was in a great location, very close to the restaurant, and came with butler service and shuttle transfers. The room type matched the photos we saw when booking. The hotel uses old-fashioned keys for the doors, which is quite unique. The courtyards are interconnected, and during our stay, we noticed people passing through, which raised concerns about safety and privacy. It's important to lock your courtyard gate securely when you go out. The cleanliness could be improved; there was dust in corners. Since our room was by the lake with lots of greenery, insects would enter when we opened and closed the windows this season. I recommend the hotel address this issue. We enjoyed the hotel's Wupeng boat experience. The hotel also offers direct access to the Dayu Mausoleum scenic area, though tickets need to be purchased. It would be even better if future stays could include a collaboration with the attraction. The staff were warm and polite, and we even received a souvenir upon checkout.

Upon first entering, I thought it was great, the hotel felt like an ancient town. However, the rooms are located behind these buildings, and walking through the narrow alleys at night was a bit scary. The stone paths were covered in moss, there were black doors and red lanterns. If you like this nostalgic style, it's perfect. The breakfast was on par with what you'd expect from a 500-600 yuan hotel. A special shout-out to Tao Yufei, who was very kind and helped prepare a takeaway breakfast for my friend who couldn't make it.

The Dayu Kaiyuan Hotel really stands out for its service. If I had to suggest an improvement, it would be to pay a bit more attention to the small details. You can tell the owner is someone with a real passion, which is quite rare these days. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite in the second phase, which was quite spacious and included a private courtyard. Waking up and opening the courtyard door to fresh air was lovely. The hotel grounds are huge, split into two phases. I actually saw guests get lost, so it's great they offer a shuttle service. Overall, it's a resort that perfectly blends ancient charm with a courtyard style. As for breakfast, you can't expect five-star hotel quality. It's a pretty standard selection for a resort hotel. However, I have to give a special shout-out to their corn at breakfast – it's absolutely delicious and a must-try!

The cleanliness of the room and facilities generally met standards and were satisfactory. However, there was a minor issue: the sink was quite low, which wasn't very convenient for taller guests like us. The environment was lovely, truly evoking the old saying 'small bridges, flowing water, and homes.' Staying here put me in a very good mood. The only real problem was the breakfast. It was too monotonous with very limited options. This is something the hotel really needs to address. For example, for hot noodles, you could offer rice vermicelli as an alternative to regular noodles, giving guests more choices. For fried items, you could vary the selection, offering two different kinds. The same goes for steamed buns and dumplings. Having the same meal day after day for several days straight naturally gets boring. Such a nice hotel shouldn't let its breakfast drag down the overall experience.

Staying at the Dahao Kaiyuan Guantang feels like stepping into a picturesque江南 (Jiangnan) painting! The hotel exudes an ancient charm with its white walls, black tiles, flowing water, stone bridges, and high-hanging lanterns – every photo you take looks like a traditional Chinese masterpiece. The waterside rooms offer stunning views right from your window, with traditional Wupeng boats gracefully gliding by, creating an incredible ambiance. The room decor is exquisite, blending ancient elegance with modern comfort. Strolling along the stone-paved paths is incredibly relaxing. During the May Day holiday, they had a 'Spring Craftsmen' event, which was perfect for families, and the kids had a blast. Our butler, Feifei, provided impeccable service; she was always responsive to our requests and incredibly gentle and thoughtful, making us feel very comfortable. Upon check-out, she even gave us special Shaoxing souvenirs, fermented bean curd and dried mustard greens, which was a very thoughtful touch.

The hotel facilities are a bit old, and some of the detailed cleaning wasn't great. Luckily, the service was quite good; issues were resolved immediately after we reported them. The hotel shuttle is very convenient for getting between phases one and two.
