Stay Away from Parker Business Hotel in Shijiazhuang
Originally booked a hotel in Zhengding, but changed my plans and randomly chose this one, mainly because it was close to the subway station. Turned out to be a terrible experience
I booked a "Cozy Double Room," and at check-in, I found out it had only an internal window. I asked about upgrading and was told it would be ¥30. I agreed, and then the front desk added that the room uses floor heating and the A/C doesn’t provide cooling—if I felt hot, I should just open the window. Since my home also has floor heating, I didn’t object at the time.
The room was warm when I entered. I went to take a shower and realized there was no shower curb—water flooded the entire bathroom. I had to spend half an hour sopping it up with towels and blocking the door.
By then it was getting really hot, so I opened the window. But I couldn’t sleep with it open because the room is right next to an overpass—the noise was unbearable. Closing the window made it unbearably stuffy and hot. I spent the whole night tossing and turned, waking up either from the noise or the heat
Because of the poor rest, I overslept and had to cancel my morning trip to Zhao County. I missed seeing the Anji Bridge!
I reported this to Ctrip for compensation, but the hotel refused. I then asked at least for a refund of the upgrade fee, but they said no—only offering a free upgrade "next time." How ridiculous. What’s worse, Ctrip only got back to me 10 minutes after I checked out, and the hotel used that as an excuse, saying they couldn’t do anything since I had already left. Ctrip only offered ¥34 worth of coins as compensation, which was pretty useless.
