The Spa Resort Bettei Rakuyu

A stunning hotel with incredibly welcoming staff and top-notch service. A delicious nine-course dinner, just like in the best restaurants, and a private river with an ocean view and the sound of the sea.

The room is large, you can lie down in a wooden barrel and soak in the hot spring while looking at the sea view. I met a girl from Xi'an who came for an internship at the hotel, and I was very grateful for her translation.

The rooms have a tranquil atmosphere, and the location boasts crystal-clear white sand beaches reminiscent of Maui or La Concha in Spain. Everything, even the sound of the waves, is soothing.

Located on the oceanfront in Izu Shimoda, this members-only resort is a hidden retreat for adults, with all rooms being suites and featuring open-air baths with free-flowing hot spring water. Enjoy the ever-changing scenery of the cobalt blue oceanfront and the sound of the waves while relaxing in your room's open-air bath and savoring exquisite cuisine. I was able to witness the moonlit path, something I had always wanted to see with my own eyes, making for a truly moving night and a wonderful "adult time" experience. All eight rooms are suites with open-air baths with free-flowing hot spring water. The bathrooms are equipped with reclining baths and DVDs. I stayed in room 303, a 66 square meter Japanese-Western style room with a cypress open-air bath and an indoor bath. The view was superb, and the amenities were by Guerlain. Smoking is permitted on the terrace, and it seems that some room types also have private saunas. The sauna is a Finnish-style sauna, and you can see the ocean from the sauna room. There is also a jacuzzi cold plunge pool and a swimming pool. With Sotoura Beach right in front, you can relax however you like! The seaside pool overlooks Sotoura Beach, an internationally certified geopark. Opening hours are 8am to 11pm. At night, the pool transforms into a night pool and is beautifully lit up. For dinner, we enjoyed a course menu of authentic French and Japanese kaiseki cuisine at the Rakuyutei restaurant. They also have a wide selection of rare alcoholic beverages, and there's a bar called Mone attached to the back. I was deeply moved to see the moonlit path for the first time, something I'd always wanted to see at least once in my life. It's a rare experience as it can only be seen in limited locations and requires specific weather conditions. I'll never forget that night. The sunrise was so beautiful it was breathtaking. For breakfast, we ate on the terrace at the Rakuyutei restaurant, enjoying the sound of the waves and the sparkling sea. The omelet made with the miraculous *Kometsuya* rice grown in Hokkaido was delicious. Above all, the crystal-clear oceanfront and the open-air bath were amazing. I recommend this place to anyone who enjoys adult travel and wants to relax.
