Sigiriya Melrose Villas

Great place to stay if you want to explore the lions rock and the area around. Pidurangala rock is only 15min away by tuk tuk, the lions rock can be done by walk (~20min walk to entrance). But the best experience was the kindness of the hosts. The helped us in every way (explaining routes, advices on activities, organizing tuk tuk, etc.). The food was amazing and we had a lot of interesting conversations with the friendly stuff. Special thanks to Daushna, Larush & Nimal for making our stay remarkable.

The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful, breakfast was included and the swimming pool was very refreshing. The property has a great view of Lion Rock and is within walking distance of all local amenities

Worst experience ever. To avoid any cost. Rooms worn down and dirty with a lot of mould on the walls. Swimming pool and broken tiles., Changing room at the pool, restoring for chemicals and cleaning stuff. Mosquito nets dirty with holes. Booked for two nights left after the first one stay there only because it was too late to find another hotel.

Melrose villas is tucked away off the main road but still within walking distance / short tuk tuk ride away from village. Rooms are simple and it may take a while to find right temperature for the shower. But what really stands out is their great service, simple but freshly made meals and view of Sigiriya Rock in the distance.

Great staff who made my trip to Sigiriya an excellent one. Location is good - quiet, but still close to where you want to be. Nice breakfast both mornings.
