"Dinesh and his family make The Otunna Guest House 5 star in every aspect. It’s everything we hoped for in Sigiriya: beautifully appointed comfortable wooden chalets set in a quiet jungle garden close to Lions Rock. The food was outstanding. We ate breakfast and dinner everyday for our 3-day stay. Dinesh’s mother cooked a superb selection of Sri Lankan dishes. We slept soundly in a fully air conditioned room with comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. Dinesh was always on hand to help us organise activities and transfers, including our trip to Lions Rock, a safari at the National Park, and our trip to the Dambulla Cave Temple. We loved every second and could not recommend The Otunna Guest House highly enough."

Restaurant’s food is very good; breakfast serving is a bit slower than the time agreed, just keep that in mind if you have a packed schedule. "I had a two night stay at Sinhagiri Villa and really enjoyed it. It’s a smallish, family run boutique hotel. You’ll enjoy home cooked meals and a very warm welcome while you’re there. While the rooms may be basic they are very clean and well maintained. It is convenient to local historic sites as well as other points of interest. We climbed Pidurangala Rock one morning and the hosts arranged a predawn tuk tuk driver for us. If you’re looking for an enjoyable stay as you explore Sri Lanka you won’t go wrong here. One note, my friend and I were self driving and had just clicked on the hotel on Google Maps to get navigation. The pin must be placed in the wrong location because we were routed about 20 minutes out of the way. When we entered the physical address found on the internet into the navigation it took us directly to Sinhagiri Villa. There is a great little lunch spot that is about a 1Km walk from the Villa, McCafe, check it out while you’re there, you’ll love it!"

Water Garden Sigiriya - 30 Chic Designed Private Villas Overlooking Sigiriya
"Visited Water Garden Sigiriya during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with my family, and truly it was a really nice break. We booked a villa with a private pool, and the room itself was spacious and well designed. The pool was a hit with the kids, they spent most of their time there. Even we ended up enjoying it more than we expected. Food was another highlight. They had a five course a la carte menu, and what I liked was they were quite flexible. We asked to adjust a few dishes to suit our taste and they were more than happy to do it, which was a nice touch. Service overall was very friendly and relaxed. Special mention to Mithun who was assigned to our villa. He really made sure everything was taken care of and helped make the stay more comfortable for us. Only small thing during April it’s really hot in this area, but they have done their maximum best to make sure the environment is nice and cool. Overall, it was a very great stay and a good choice for a family trip, especially during a holiday period like New Year. I also recommend this to any tourist this is visiting the Sigiriya area. This is a must stay hotel if you are visiting this area in Sri Lanka."

"A brilliant experience, we stayed in the treehouse pictured and everything has been thought of, great shower, mosquito nets, plenty of sockets (3 pin UK style) mini fridge in the treehouse, lockable cupboard to keep your snacks away from visiting monkeys. 2 types of langurs and slender loris can be seen in the jungle around the hotel. The restaurant choices for dinner are limited and there aren't too many other places to eat out but we found a vegetarian option for 2 nights. Breakfast was good. Loved laying in bed listening to the sounds of the birds and monkeys around us. Really friendly and helpful owner and staff."

"My experience at this establishment was profoundly disappointing due to the exceptionally rude behavior of both the owner and the male receptionist. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist's unwelcoming demeanor was evident. He barely acknowledged our presence and seemed more interested in his phone than in assisting us. His curt responses and condescending tone made us feel like an unwelcome intrusion rather than valued customers. The situation worsened when we had to interact with the owner. I had hoped for a more professional attitude, but unfortunately, the owner was even more abrasive. When we inquired about the entertainment package that was mentioned during pre-booking, both the receptionist and the owner declined our request without providing a valid explanation. Instead of addressing our concerns, the owner interrupted us and made it clear that our feedback was not welcome. Such behavior is unacceptable and speaks volumes about the lack of customer service training and basic courtesy at this place. It’s disheartening to see how little regard they have for their patrons. I strongly advise against visiting this establishment if you expect to be treated with respect and professionalism. There are plenty of other places where your business will be genuinely appreciated."

"We (2 adults and 2 children) stayed in the spacious Tree House and had a wonderful time. The terrace was especially lovely – perfect for relaxing and enjoying the view over the rice fields. The hotel is quiet and cozy, with a well-maintained pool and a separate children's pool. There are plenty of loungers around the pool. The food is simple but tasty, and the chef puts a lot of effort into tailoring meals to the guests’ preferences – especially for children, which we really appreciated. Apart from local beer, no alcohol is served. The hotel is a great base for exploring Sigiriya and the surrounding area. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily come back!"

"This hotel has terrible facilities and service. 1. The Wi-Fi in room 97 had no signal, so I had to use the internet in the lobby. 2. There was no hot water in the room, and the staff spent two hours trying to get it working, but I still couldn't shower. I had to go to another room to shower. 3. Breakfast was extremely slow. I booked for 8:00 AM, but by 8:30 AM I had only eaten a few pieces of fruit."

"We stayed at the hotel for one night and visited the local landmark, Sigiriya. We arrived late in the evening, were greeted very warmly, and enjoyed a delicious dinner. The rooms were spacious and cozy, with crisp white, soft linens. The grounds were well-kept and lush, with mango and pomegranate trees growing on them, and monkeys running through the branches. In the morning, we saw that Sigiriya was visible from the grounds! We loved it!"

"This place is located very far out from the the main area which can be a plus for relaxing; however this also causes problems when it comes to quality of stay. WiFi connection and phone service is very poor so while staying at this place it’s impossible to get work done. Additionally, during my 3 day stay there were two instances where there was no running water. Rooms are clean. Service is average. Breakfast leaves much to be desired"
