Grand Hotel du Cours

This gorgeous old hotel in Sisteron was perfect for our one night stay during a road trip in the South of France. Very friendly and charming staff. Easy parking underneath the hotel. Right in the centre of Sisteron, with ancient ramparts right outside the hotel. We were given a lovely suite on the top floor with views over the town. Very comfortable bed and a separate room with couches to relax in at night. The hotel also has a restaurant attached which was great - packed with local people dining out and we ended the evening with a nightcap in the comfortable chairs near the reception desk. This town is definately worth stopping in, fantastic rock formations and views. Highly recommended for old world charm.

We had a stopover on our return journey from South of France to UK in Sisteron to visit the Citadel. The Hotel is a lovely old traditional building and we were greeted warmly by the receptionist. He took my bag and led me into the hotel. Our room was delightful with an amazing view of the citadel. We had dinner in the restaurant and again the staff were very friendly and we had a super meal. The next morning we had a delicious breakfast with eggs, sausage and cheese. There was fruit salad, apple purée and yogurts and the traditional French bread, cakes and pastries. The French bread was so fresh. We had a problem with the shower but as soon as I mentioned it the receptionist had it fixed. We stayed two nights and ate in the restaurant both nights. The food was really excellent and good value. A great experience and we recommend the hotel. We often drive to the south if France for a holiday but have not stopped at Sisteron before. We will definitely stay at this hotel in the future. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.

We made a last minute reservation and upon arriving, were given a suite instead of a room for 4, which suited us better ( and for the same price). It was OK as far as comfort goes, for one night but the pillows were too hard, the TV tiny, the couch uncomfortable. The bathroom was good and storage space ideal. The welcome and personnel were excellent, as well as the location. Easy free parking within a short walk, or the hotel’s garage. Their restaurant was good with a varied menu and the breakfast buffet, correct. If in Sisteron, we would definitely recommend staying here.

Ideal location in the heart of the city, the hotel is easily accessible, with a parking garage and a convenient restaurant whose staff accommodated our food allergy. The room was clean and cozy. Very pleasant place with an "old glory" vibe.
