Apartments Villa Riva

Well sized apartments with everything you would need. Fridge, hob, sofas, nice balcony area. You have to pay for cleaning of the room which we didn't bother with but asked for new towels and got them no issues also as far we are aware there is no set time for reception. Being honest think we have came at very quiet time of year as Slano is a bit of a ghost town but we have used it as a base for Ston, Mostar, Dubrovnik and Kotor. Used libertas bus to get to Dubrovnik which is €3.70 single, 45 mins journey. Studenac shop 5 mins walk has all the essentials.

Vila Riva is a clean, spacious building with an ideal setting right on the small harbour with a quiet pool area that has a beautiful Mountain View complete with swifts flying overhead, what’s not to love! We stayed the end of June into July for a week, in apartment 1, that has two bedrooms on the ground floor with easy access to the pool. It’s cool with great adjustable air con, it has a dishwasher (but if you like to wash dishes by hand bring a teatowel) and has all the basics you’d need. The pool area is clean, lovely and cool and for most of the week we had it to ourselves (no 9am sun bed fights to be had here!) The staff are very polite and helpful (they are usually about in the mornings), the company that runs the apartment booked our airport transfers and were very easy to communicate with and helped with the transfers when our flight was diverted for 3 hours due to wind! The Vila is next to a small shop, there’s another supermarket further into the village aswell as a few gift shops and a yummy bakery. Slano has a few good restaurants, including a pizzeria in the grounds of the Admiral Hotel, there’s also two restaurants around the bay to the right in the next village (about a scenic 15 min walk). We’d also recommend the narrow shingle beach past the marina to the left of the bay, beautiful clean waters for snorkelling and swimming….. tip- bring watershoes as it’s stoney underfoot and there’s sea urchins further round on the rocks. The no12 bus goes every few hours into Dubrovnik, we used it twice (hop off two stops before the end for the Old Town) and we enjoyed the local boat trip around the islands that can be booked from outside Vila Riva on the harbour side. We’d really recommend these apartments as they are clean, quiet and a great base to explore this gorgeous area.

These apartments were amazing. So clean, so well equipped and the perfect location. We had room 8, the best room in the house as far as I was concerned. It was on the 1st floor, where there were four rooms. Two of the rooms did not have a balcony (6&7), there was a shared balcony either end. We were lucky as one of the ned rooms we had direct access to the balcony from our room. No one else used it during our stay. The location could not be better. Picture perfect over looking the bay. The rooms were so well equipped, dishwasher, washing machine, hob, cooker, iron, ironing board, airer absolutely amazing. We weren't successful at getting the television working, but a minor point we could have asked. Front door entry is by key pad. We were dropped late at night and weren't sure how to get in. Someone opened the door for us and there was a number to call, but advanced notification of the keypad number would have been better. We had booked through EasyJet and they hadn't given us the number for the door, which would have been very useful. Slano itself was beautiful with just 4 or 5 restaurants and one bar, two supermarkets and a pharmacy. We did the island hoping boat trip and would have gone on the Dubrovnik trip but it didn't run on a convenient day for us. The marina is a must for an evening drink and watch the sunset.

Amazing apartment!! Clean, spacious, perfect location. Seems you won’t be disappointed with any of the apartments. Yes it’s true that upstairs do not have balconies. However, there is a communal terrace which is perfect and rarely shared. I’ve had a few mornings sitting quietly with a cuppa. Same as the pool- you will never be without a sunbed. We had a downstairs apartment, which does have some outside space, it is not private to us, but it may as well be as we’ve only seen a couple of people walking past to access the gate. I’ve never been on the same holiday twice. But Slano- I wouldn’t have to think twice. It’s September and so peaceful. The beaches and sea are stunning. If you want sunbeds/parasols then head toward the grand admiral hotel. If no need for these, then head past the mariner. Which we did, as suggested by another TA review. Heads up for smokers- Vila Riva- is entirely non smoking. Inside and out.

A beautifully clean and well equipped apartment on the top floor overlooking the harbour. The Vila has a modern fresh feel to it with an efficient, friendly staff. Outside, the grounds and pool at the rear are excellent with plenty of sun loungers and parasols available. The village has good cafes and restaurants as well as a couple of small supermarkets. There is a stall by the church selling local produce and small beaches a short walk either side of the harbour where you can swim in the beautifully clean sea. Would go again to this quiet family-oriented village.

Great stay! We had a ground floor apartment, which meant easy access to the pool and the parking area. Everything was clean and tidy, plenty of toilet rolls and all other basics included. Kitchen was well equipped for self catering but there were also lots of local restaurants a moments walk away. A very peaceful week indeed. Would stay again!

I booked this holiday package with EasyJet. On arriving at the airport we had a private transport to Slano. The journey from Dubrovnik airport to Vila Riva was 1hr. Prior to the holiday, EasyJet emailed to say that we needed to inform VR of our ETA - they were quick to respond with a detailed explanation of how to enter the building. When we arrived in Slano on the 1st August, there was a food/drinks festival - we were dropped off just around the corner as the road was closed to traffic (I knew where to head due to already having a look on google earth at that the surrounding area before even arriving in Croatia). We tapped the code into the keypad by the front door, as explained in the instructions and video clip and our envelope with keys were on the front desk. We headed to the 2nd floor and walked into an open plan apartment. The kitchen/dinner/bedroom was immaculate - very well maintained and equipped. We did not use any of the kitchen appliances as we ate out every evening and always purchased something from the bakery around the corner for lunch. Beautiful view from the window overlooking the bay. The apartments were always peaceful, no noise from any of the other apartments. There was never any problems getting a sun-bed around the pool. These apartments seemed to be used by guests who all seemed to have cars so they were in and out all the time. One day we had the pool area to ourselves all morning. We went out on a boat trip with Slano boat trip, fabulous day. If you did want to cook a meal then the kitchen was well equipped. Even though I took my own shower gel, I preferred too use the dispensary shower gel in the shower - lovely shower, very roomy with two shower heads. Lovely big bed, mattress was a little hard for us (we are used to a very soft memory foam mattress). Staff are lovely, they man the desk in the mornings only, but always at the end of a phone/email if required. The kitchen had a scouring pad/sponge with a dispenser with washing up liquid in, there were dishwasher tablets under the sink (didn’t use the dishwasher). 2 tea-towels, bin liners and toilet rolls & kitchen roll. Hair dryer, iron and board in the room with a large airer. Would highly recommended these apartments. Would return without any doubt.

Unexpected gem This wonderful property surpassed all our expectations: location (seafront), view (sea view with sun setting over bay), size of room (bigger than it looked on the photos), garden and pool (beautiful) and facilities (air con, well stocked kitchenette with dishwasher, great shower, free pool towels etc.). There was free parking but we didn’t need it as the local bus (12) stopped a couple of minutes walk away. We ate on the terrace looking out over the sea (groceries available from supermarket next door) and lounged by the pool (plenty of sun loungers and parasols). The local restaurants were great with prices matching Dubrovnik. We absolutely loved it here and wished we could stay longer. What a gem!

Great apartment in Slano We stayed for 4 days but wished it was longer. Slano is a beautiful village a short bus ride (number 12) from Dubrovnik. The people are friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed quiet few days in this relaxing little town. The last day coincided with the town festival (August 1st & 2nd) which was a great family friendly experience. The apartment itself is amazing value and we had a brilliant stay.
