Location of the hotel was perfect for seeing all the tourist sites by foot. Breakfast was good, had everything I expected it to. Nothing fancy. Again, room had everything I expected it to however was a bit dirty. I found broken glass on the floor in the bathroom and lots of dead bugs around the different rooms. All the different buttons for the air con, blinds and lighting quite confusing and didn’t always work.

The location is excellent, with three metro lines just a short walk away, making it easy to get around the city. The rooms are spacious, well maintained, and very clean. The windows are highly soundproof, so outside noise is not an issue. The hotel also provides useful amenities, the lobby is welcoming, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, I had a very good experience. The only downside was the housekeeping staff, who started talking loudly in the corridors early in the morning. Because the room doors are not well soundproofed, it sounded as though they were speaking right outside—or even inside—the room, which made it difficult to sleep. It would be much better if they communicated more quietly or found another way to coordinate instead of shouting in the hallways.

The hotel is in a superb location, right in the city center. It's backed by the Presidential Palace and the Parliament building, and just a block away from the main shopping street. Plus, the hotel's backyard features Sofia's oldest church. Getting around is also a breeze, with a subway interchange station right outside the entrance.

This hotel is grand and newly renovated. The location is excellent, making it very convenient to visit all the attractions. The toiletries are Clarins, and the breakfast spread is rich and varied. Highly recommended!

Very good location, cozy room although the ventilation system still old soviet style. Friendly staff, check-in time 15:00 sharp with no exception.

This hotel offers great value for money, especially considering its price point. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well-equipped. The location is excellent, making it easy to get around. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Overall, my experience exceeded expectations, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again when I'm back in Sofia.

The hotel was located close to interesting archaeology excavation site, it also has very close proximity to the Saint George Chapel and the house of Byzantine conquerors. However, it was difficult to access the hotel from our taxi…. Long walk with luggage!

Seriously avoid this hotel! When we checked in, they discriminated against Chinese guests, giving us a room at the very end of the hall next to a utility room. When I went to the front desk to ask for a room change, the staff looked incredibly reluctant and rolled their eyes, but eventually changed it. During our stay, it felt like our luggage had been rummaged through by the cleaning staff, as many of the souvenirs we bought were missing. They also overcharged us for the tourist tax when we checked out. I strongly advise against staying here!

Having stayed in many 5 star hotels across the world, I had high hopes for the Sofia Balkan Palace, that unfortunately were only partially met. First let’s cover the good points! It feels historic without being old, and you feel like you’re really in Sofia. The best thing about the property is easily the location; it’s close to all the main tourist attractions, and there are good transport links right by the hotel, as well as access to some fantastic restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. The hotel rooms are modern and relatively clean, with the usual amenities. However, I was disappointed that housekeeping kept forgetting to replenish the complimentary daily water, as well as pay attention to the ‘Do Not Disturb’ light that I had selected for my room on a few days during my visit. I would say that one of the downsides is the customer service; although staff aren’t rude, I wouldn’t say they’re polite or overly helpful. The hotel has average soundproofing, and I was far too aware of the music outside, my neighbouring guests talking or listening to music in their rooms, as well as guests in the hallway (which is in part due to the layout of my room, which did not have an additional door between the bedroom and front door into the room). The noise outside does lessen and stop by about 11:00 PM, and sometimes by 10:00 PM (depending on the day). Overall, I’d still say it’s a good choice for your stay in Sofia. Especially if your priority is staying in a historical boutique hotel in a good location.

This hotel is located in a prime spot, right next to most popular travel destinations. The breakfast is delicious, served with sparkling wine. The building itself is a beautiful palace, and the room has been recently renovated.

It was nice with a Christmas and new year celebration spirits. The only problem in the room was the lack of some of the amenities. There was no iron in the room and there was no clear mirror. Breakfast was ok but I’ve seen better breakfasts in other hotels.
