September 12, 2025 I wanted to take a few minutes to brag on Chinook RV Par in South Fork, Colorado. The owners, Keith and Cheryl Johnson, are friendly, helpful, and most accommodating. Keith is always there to help with any issues [which are rare] one might have and is always willing to talk to the campers. Cheryl is also there to help in the office & takes time to visit the campers, plus, she sells fresh eggs! Several of the campers stay as long as four months, we stay three! We travel with a 42’ toy hauler and the sites are large enough to park your truck or toy beside the RV. There are aspen trees behind the camper & a picnic table on site. The size of the park is perfect to get to know your neighbors through campfires, potlucks, card games, visiting with your neighbors, or gathering a group to take a trail ride. Chinook RV is family-friendly, pet-friendly, and has great trails for hikers. Lastly, the are quaint log cabins, laundry facilities, bathrooms and all cleaned daily. Did I mention full-hookups and Wi-Fi??? We love the environment offered by Chinook!! Thomas Vaden, McRae, AR

Stay It was okay I feel the website leads you on to think you have a cabin that has a kitchenette. We came in to a cabin that was 2 full beds a 4 cup coffee maker ( there was no coffee) dirty cups, a small microwave and a college frig in which they said in the law book if you didn't clean you got charged and extra $30 dollars. Only a toaster that caused the smoke alarm to go off while toasting a bagel at their high priced grocery store. The shower was good but if you are a lady and need conditioner and body soap and need to dry your hair make sure you bring your own. There are alot of rules in which I understand there is probably a reason. But geez made you feel bad for even staying there. They also advertised there were fresh eggs apparently the chickens were not laying. Then take the sign down. Its a very small town that does NOT make you feel welcome.

We have stayed many years at Chinook in both the cabins and RV park and could not be happier. The modernized historic themed cabins have all the amenities that one would expect. RV sites are wide and spacious, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. The owners, Keith and Cheryl will go above and beyond to ensure that your stay is enjoyable. Highly recommend!

This is our 3rd summer at Chinook. We love being here and would highly recommend it for a weekend getaway or a summer staycation. We have made many friends here and our hosts Keith and Cheryl are very gracious and helpful! If you have an RV or stay in one of the historic cabins I think you would make some enjoyable and fun memories.

We have been staying at Chinook for many years and could not be happier! The owners, Keith and Cheryl have always gone above and beyond to TRY and ensure that all of the guest have an enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, we all know that one person that no matter what you do, they are not going to be happy. We are currently utilizing the RV park, but have stayed in several of the cabins. As stated in the website, these cabins are over 100+ years old. It is truly a unique experience to stay in one of these themed cabins. Each cabin has been modernized with all of the amenities that one would expect. The photos that you can access from the website will confirm. The structural interior of the cabins have not been renovated, so yes, the doorways may be a little shorter than what some people are accustomed to, but once again, these are historic cabins! Renovating the interiors would take away from the nostalgia that MOST people have enjoyed as the many positive reviews will attest to. I can honestly say as a 6 foot man I have never had any problems navigating the doorways or light fixtures of any of the cabins. The charge and cancellation policy is CLEARLY stated in plain English on their website. There are no “hidden fees”or “fine print” as someone has alluded to. If you’re a happy person looking for a fun, unique and enjoyable place to book your next Colorado vacation, I highly recommend Chinook RV Park and Cabins. If you’re nit-picky and hard to please then I recommend choosing a location that has fine luxury hotels that cater to those types.

This is a great RV park with cute historic cabins. The RV sites are large and there is plenty of room to easily back a big trailer into. The cabins are from the early 1900s but updated for modern comfort. I have been coming here for several years and plan to for several more years. The owners are great people that bend over backwards to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable.

We have come here in our RV for several years and will continue to stay here every summer!!! The rustic, themed early 1900 cabins are super cool! We're planning a winter trip with family to enjoy a couple of them. This place is awesome and the owners are wonderful, always checking to make sure you enjoy your stay. Don't miss this place if you're coming to or through South Fork!

We spent the weekend as a family reunion. Booked weeks in advance. I don't know how the other cabins are but the Fort Wilderness cabin is NOT for people over 5 ft 10 in! Doors are too low and a ceiling fixture with antlers almost poked me in the eye! Also we had said we weren't sure if we needed the last day for 4 people. Asked for a credit and owner refused. Then there's a surprise charge for 'non cash fee' that was actually a credit card fee for the deposit. And a credit card fee. Seems greedy. I understand that operating expenses add up, but why nickel and dime customers. Regarding the low clearance, we were NOT informed ahead of time. Only after checking in and being stuck with the charges, which was too late. Every door was too low and I almost touched the ceiling with my head. Won't return.
