The standard rooms are very tired looking. Room could have been cleaner. It was my wife 60th birthday and I had put a request for a hand written note saying happy birthday and some flower petals on the bed. Neither of these requests were done, which was very disappointing

As I was not travelling by car, the hotel was a bit far from the Southampton railway station. The bus passing by the hotel only ran once an hour, which was a bit inconvenient. However, the decoration of the hotel completely met my requirements. It was a very historic British building with a swimming pool. Breakfast was served in an old British space, which was a very refreshing start to a new day.
