A very good hotel. The owner is very kind and enthusiastic. He told us which attractions are worth visiting. The hotel is located in the center of the main island. The scenery is very beautiful. It is close to a supermarket and a gas station. There is also a small shop and a fish and chip shop. There is also a takeaway Chinese restaurant very close by, but the taste is an improved version from abroad, closer to the ********* one. However, I recommend the hotel’s lunch and dinner. You can tell the boss what you want to eat, and the boss will prepare it very carefully. , we didn’t know it at first. After communicating with the boss, the fish meal and chicken meal prepared by the boss were of course made according to our requirements. They were very delicious. Of course, the boss would not cook Chinese food, but the curry rice and other dishes prepared by the boss were very delicious. Tourists said it was delicious because we like to eat light food. The taste is similar to Michelin. The hotel bed is soft and comfortable. Among them, the facilities were negotiated with benefits. We went to see the Aurora. The boss also told us where is better to see it and which website to check for warnings. This hotel is warm and like home. I recommend everyone to book this hotel. However, in summer, you must book three months in advance, otherwise there will be no Location.

We popped in for drinks and Scott and Curtis looked after us so well, we ended up having bar food too! Fantastic service from them both and the food (scampi, chips and spring rolls ) was fabulous. Such a great experience and would highly recommend! Thank you Scott and Curtis for making our visit so special

We had a far too short stay on Shetland and at The Brae Hotel. The hotel is great, remotely and perfect for those who want to explore the islands. Our room were tidy, clean and comfortable, although the bed was on the smaller side. It’s the service shown by staff that makes this stay special. Whenever we stayed in the restaurant area or lounge we felt well taken care of by the staff. Especially thanks to Scott and Curtis, they really give of themselves and go the extra mile for the guests. We had dinner at the restaurant one night, the menus change every day, is short and exciting with local produce. The food was good and were decent in portions. Highly recommend checking out the restaurant. We had breakfast in the mornings, here you can get a typical Scottish breakfast. The staff is accommodating with food preferences, again a big thank you to Scott for making breakfast special. There’s also a table with "typical” continental breakfast options. We would also like to give Tracy at the reception a shout out for good tourism advice and giving us a warm welcome and send off. We will stay here again, and recommend it.

The Brae Hotel is a great base to stay for a few days to explore the islands. Rooms in the 3 star hotel are clean and comfortable with all that is needed for a stay. The standout feature of the hotel is the staff. David at reception shared his wealth of local knowledge with the best places to visit. Meals at the restaurant offered multiple choices, were well cooked and servings were generous. Scott and Curtis are an excellent team, with their cheerfulness, efficiency and attention to detail to be commended. It was a great start to the day to have breakfast served with them singing as they worked.

Rooms were clean & tidy, warm and comfortable if a little outdated in style. All staff were very pleasant and helpful but the two gents working in the restaurant, Curtis and Scott, were outstanding. The meals were excellent and the service was a lovely balance of very professional whilst still being friendly.

What a fantastic stay! Hotel is in a great location, rooms are extremely comfortable and reasonably priced! Meals are locally sourced and super tasty! Staff are great but the star of the show was a chap called Scott! His service was impeccable! So polite, always smiling and so handsome! A true gentleman.! A fantastic breakfast chef ( makes delicious scrambled eggs!!) breakfast was a great atmosphere listening to him singing away, what a voice!! , a real home from home! His service in the restaurant in the evenings was just the same, being so kind and attentive to everybody no matter how busy he was. And then to see him throughout the day attending to guests, cleaning, even ****ing the hotel grounds! A fantastic all rounder and a true credit to the hotel. I will definitely be returning to the Brae hotel! A real hidden gem! Well done Scott and Curtis!

After an extended stay at The Brae Hotel due to work commitments, I would highly recommend it due to the clean room, excellent staff, superb food individualised where necessary and top class overall. The service from Scott and Curtis went above and beyond, if you find yourself going to or are already in Shetland this is the place to stay.

Stayed here for a few weeks recently for work. Rooms are clean, shower is good enough. The food is always excellent! There is not a lot of choice with usually 3/4 starters, mains and desserts and the menu is changed daily. The food is always great though…haven’t had a bad meal in this place yet. Special mention to Scott (barman) and Curtis (waiter). Two very friendly attentive guys that take care of each and every guest at the hotel. These two guys are always on hand to take care of any need or want at breakfast service and at dinner time.
