This stay was truly captivating, and the owner's hospitality captivated me! My sister highly recommended this homestay in Dukezong Ancient Town. The owner, Zhuoma, proactively asked about our itinerary from the moment we booked. Upon arrival, she not only provided a detailed and practical guide to Shangri-La, but also shared tips on hidden gems and pitfalls to avoid. It was even more reliable than a handy guide.
The most heartwarming thing was that as soon as we dropped off our luggage, the owner brought us hot yak milk. It warmed me up and instantly dispelled my travel fatigue. The amenities were even more amazing. The entire home is equipped with smart home technology, allowing for voice control of lights and curtains, making it incredibly easy to use. The furniture is all brand new and high-quality, and it's clear the owner put a lot of thought into the renovations, making the stay both comfortable and technologically advanced.
The view from the window is incredibly thoughtful, and this homestay is simply divine!
The room I stayed in this time truly took full advantage of its ”view room” status. In the morning, as I pulled back the heavy blackout curtains, the view before me was breathtaking: directly across from me was the lush greenery of Guishan Park, and the large prayer wheel atop the mountaintop was so clear it seemed almost palpable. Especially in the evening, the setting sun cast a warm glow on the prayer wheel, and even the people circumambulating the park could be vaguely seen. I didn't have to squeeze into the crowds at the observation deck; I could quietly enjoy this unique view from my room. The photos I took and posted on WeChat Moments were met with inquiries about the address.
Even more touching was the thoughtful attention to detail at the B&B. Considering the local climate and altitude, an oxygen concentrator was pre-installed in the room. The owner came to teach me how to use it. When I occasionally felt a little hypoxic at night, I turned it on and immediately felt much better. Hanging in the closet was a thick, complimentary down jacket. The clean, simple design meant I didn't have to carry heavy clothing, and I wore it when I went out to visit the park or see the prayer wheels, offering both windproof and warmth. This thoughtful consideration of the guests' needs was even more heartwarming than the scenery itself. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting! When we checked out, the owner even prepared a Vajra knot, a local ******* gift, for my girlfriend and me. It was a thoughtful gesture, and it was truly heartwarming. The entire experience was not only comfortable, but also felt like visiting a friend's home. I've already recommended it to friends planning a trip, and I'll definitely stay here again next time!

MM786608****We traveled all the way from Kunming to Dali, Lijiang, and then Shangri-La, and Shangri-La was absolutely the best experience!!! The proprietress is super beautiful and has such a great personality. She helped us with our luggage when we arrived and when we left, and she was always busy preparing breakfast every morning. The room was also kept exceptionally clean. Every time we returned to the guesthouse, it felt just like coming home. It was really hard to leave; we were so sad to say goodbye to Shangri-La and to the proprietress 😭. I truly recommend it wholeheartedly! 👍❗️ I will definitely go back to Shangri-La, and next time I'll stay at her guesthouse again! (I had so much fun that I forgot to take pictures of the guesthouse, so I can only include three breakfast photos taken by my greedy little foodie! 😅)

GGuest UserWe book for 2 night stay here and extend for one more night. We really love the ambient of the hotel. They had a small beautiful yard/ garden welcoming you to the hotel. You even get free flow of mineral water and can borrow their cowboy hats. Haha
Our room comes with one stand heater, warm blanket and air conditioner ( can set until 30•C). Enough to warm both of us. Shangrila is quite cold compared to other city we visited in Yunan. The location really strategic. Walking distance to East gate of Dukezong City where scenic bus station located and not far from Dufeng Prayer Wheel. If you take bus from Tina, the first stop at Shangri-La city only walking distance to the hotel. If you take DiDi, the car can send you to the hotel without much walking. Within 500m, you can find 4 halal restaurants. If you want to go to Xiangyang farm product market (you can find halal bakery here) it’s just 1 km walk. Along the walk, you can find a local park with clear water and beautiful view.
Owner very helpful. Despite the language barrier, he tried all he can to help us. We planned to go to Balagezong on second day but really clueless since not much information on the internet. Mostly people went there via travel agency. With his help, we manage to secure ticket to the national park. He and his wife even walk us to the bus station where we need to catch the bus the next early morning.
On the last day here, owner even offered to send us to the railway station. On the way to the station, he stopped by a ******* restaurant and get us some delicious warm yak milk and ghee tea (we should try earlier. This one very delicious 🤤). That’s really generous of him. If we were coming back to Shangrila again, we would book this hotel again without doubt.

GGuest UserThis trip to Tiger Leaping Gorge is very worthwhile. The happiest and happiest thing is to meet Tingtao Yage. There were many children staying that day. Our children had a lot of fun and were super happy. They didn't want to leave. The daughter of the owner of Tingtao Yage is only eight years old. She is super capable. She serves tea and water to guests and looks like an adult. I must give her a thumbs up. Their service is really great. They took the initiative to call us, carefully explained the precautions, added WeChat, and informed us of the road conditions in time. It was no problem to drive slowly on the rural road that was a few hundred meters into the village. The room was very clean, the quilt was dry, and I slept very comfortably. You can eat the fruits on the trees at will. They are a super generous family. If I have time in the future, I will definitely come here and stay for a few months.

PPoBoxEarthTibeT guest house is a place where you arrive and feel part of the family. It's 3 generations living there. The 88 year old gramma is always smiling. The mother and father get most of their food from their nearby garden. Very hardworking and kind people. We enjoyed free walnuts, apples and pears that are in season now.
The son picked us up in a Tesla(!) from the bus station (below Tina's GH) free of charge. (See photo) You can call the phone number (via Trip.com) to let them know that you've arrived. They speak a little English. (We sent them an email via Trip.com to give them our WeChat contact which is easier than trying to talk on the phone).
We got one of the newer rooms on the 3rd floor with great views and outdoor seating too.
The bed is very comfortable!
The food is great! Breakfast is included and substantial and tasty. Flatbread, hard boiled eggs, potato and corn.
They have a large menu including some ******* influenced dishes. Milk dregs in butter was a first...a sour and sweet soy bean spread. Corn pancake, stir-fried fresh mushrooms plus lots of regular Chinese dishes and even yak meat! The coldest beer we've had in China! The dining area is cosy.

The nearby hike down to the river is great. 1 hour each way. You can arrange a mule ride, if you are short of time or not fit. There's a guy at the junction to the trail after you pass by most of the local houses.
We also arranged for the son to drive us to Naxi Village to start a 2 day trek (28 bends). We paid 150 RMB. It's a really rough road and took about 30 mins to get there. Thankfully, we started up higher so we could make it to Half way House in 1 day.
They also can arrange private transfers to other cities like Shangrila or Lijiang.
We stayed 2 nights and it was hard to leave this lovely homestay.

MM2d9i2tvk****We arrived by bike, and the owners took great care of us. We were only 3 kilometers from the hotel, but the hill was too steep to cycle up, so the owner happily came to pick us up. The environment is beautiful, and you can see the 'golden mountains' (sunlit peaks). The room was clean and tidy, with all the necessary amenities.

Contacted the guesthouse and they went above and beyond to mail the sunglasses to Kunming, our last stop. Really appreciate Judy’s hospitality and exceptional service. Thank you!

The sanitation is impressive, and every corner is sparkling and meticulous. The young man at the front desk is warm and thoughtful, always willing to help, and always responds quickly whenever there is a need. The location is perfect. It is located in the center of Dukezong Ancient City. It is located in the scenic area. You can see the beautiful scenery of the ancient city as soon as you go out. It is also very convenient to go to other scenic spots. It is only three or four minutes away from the main road. If you have something, the young brother at the front desk can also ride a small electric donkey to send it to you on the roadside. The transportation is extremely convenient. In short, this is an unforgettable accommodation experience. If I come to Shangri-La next time, I will still firmly choose this homestay. I highly recommend it!
