Franschhoek Country House & Villas

After a few days in Cape Town we moved out to Franschhoek to enjoy the town and visit some of the wonderful local wineries. It is a definite change of pace from Cape Town and a really relaxed hotel and environment in which to wind down and relax. Located just a 15 min walk outside Franschhoek the hotel offers a wonderful service in terms of complimentary buses to drop and collect customers from town. Staff are very friendly, facilities and pool area very nice and the restaurant is excellent: in particular we would highlight the amazing customer service from Benji-Lee in the restaurant and Annastacia in reception. Drivers were all very friendly and helpful as well. Gym not on site but only a five minute drive from the hotel and good facilities. Pool area really relaxing and nice area to spend the day with wonderful views of the mountains and local wineries. Good spot for lunch and a few relaxing drinks. Good service throughout the day from the team. Would highly recommend an evening meal in the restaurant Monneaux where the food, ambience and service are all excellent. We were in room seven and had a nice balcony from which we could watch the sun set in the evenings. Would recommend if you want some down time and relaxation while visiting the area.

A really wonderful welcome.. we arrived at 11 am from capetown so early. It was a hot day so we made use of the pool. We decided to upgrade to a villa suite! They are huge! We had a large balcony with two sunbeds. The pool area is really nice plenty of space ... cold water and lemonade available. The shuttle service into franshoek is excellent and makes a huge difference to your stay. Breakfast is good and they had gone to allot of trouble for my husband who is a coeliac.

A truely delightful place to stay. We had one of the Villa suites - and wow, they are stunning. Excellent breakfast on the hotel veranda in the morning. Dinner in the Molyneaux restatuant at night. Lazing by the pool during the day. Truly wonderful staff who go out of their way to make your stay as perfect as possible.

Beautiful buildings in a French village setting and well-tended and visually appealing gardens with fabulous views, make for a truly pleasant stay. We had a standard room which was very well appointed, beautifully furnished, and very clean, with good linen, a full bathroom and a safe for valuables. Toiletries were provided and beds were turned down in the evenings. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfast is great, with many buffet choices, as well as the option of food to order, along with really good coffee and cheerful service! Suggestions were given as to places to visit, which was very nice. This was our third visit to the hotel, which has changed hands from a family owner to a hotel chain since our previous stays. The previous little personal touches are missing, but the staff were really an asset to the establishment. We had a problem with a leaking shower, but once we alerted the hotel, the problem was immediately resolved. We were caught in dreadful weather and could not get to the hotel on our check-in date. Angelo at reception was exceptional in the help and guidance he gave us in finding safe alternative routes to get to the hotel the following day. While the town was badly damaged from the floods and without electricity, the hotel had its own power supply, several cosy wood fires and a functional upmarket restaurant, so we were very comfortable. When we left, most roads to Johannesburg were impassible due to floods, and Angelo and other staff did their utmost to help us find a safe route home, even printing information from the internet and bringing it to us. More money than we would normally pay for an overnight stay but worth it. Very good hospitality, lovely pool and garden area. Food really nice, we had an evening meal which was excellent

We stayed here for 2 nights and loved the hotel. It’s in a great location, convenient for the vineyards and for the restaurants in the centre of Franschhoek. There is a complementary shuttle into town if needed. The pool area is lovely with 2 small pools, one heated and one not. Breakfast was excellent with some buffet options but also made to order choices too. Our room was a decent size with a private balcony on the front and shared at the back. We were facing the road, overlooking the courtyard restaurant but didn’t hear any noise at all. The grounds are beautiful, the staff really friendly, overall I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Our stay at Franschhoek Country House was absolutely wonderful and we didn't want to leave. The hotel staff were always smiley and friendly and always available when needed. The hotel decor and gardens are impeccable. Finally, the free shuttle into town is so easy via a quick WhatsApp message. 10/10 all round and we wont bother looking anywhere else when we come back to Franschhoek.

Big room with many thoughtful features and a great breakfast. The hotel has two pools (one heated) and a fabulous onsite restaurant (fine dining quality). We made use of the free shuttle to ferry us to the wine tram.

Amazing hotel in a wonderful area. Lots to do including wine tours. Breakfast was awesome. Room exceptional and clean. Pool was great, one warm the other hot. Brilliant evening meal.
