Rooms Hotel Kazbegi

Unbeatable mountain views! Our balcony looked straight out onto the snowy peaks and Gergeti Trinity Church. However, the room was tiny, especially the bathroom. The hotel is very popular, and the staff seemed quite unenthusiastic.

The dining views at this hotel are absolutely stunning! The hotel facilities are also very comprehensive, and the sauna was wonderfully relaxing. The staff were all incredibly warm and attentive. We had dinner at the hotel too; the service was excellent. The food was typical Georgian cuisine, which was a bit too salty for Chinese tastes, but their breakfast spread was incredibly rich and I really enjoyed it!

The view is indeed great, and both breakfast and à la carte dishes were delicious and reasonably priced. However, the facilities were quite dated. The shower faucet was old-fashioned, and it was really hard to adjust the water temperature. The electric kettle was particularly dirty and greasy inside, making it feel like it hadn't been cleaned after previous use.

The best location in Kazbegi, I'm glad I chose it over a cabin. Every room has a balcony. The rooms with mountain views are a bit more expensive but offer a wider, better vista for sunrise and sunset. However, the forest view rooms are also nice, with glimpses of the snowy mountains and trees, just not as expansive as the full mountain view. Breakfast was excellent; it's basic Western fare but very high quality. We also had dinner at the hotel, which was good too. We didn't try any other restaurants in town, so I can't compare. It's a 15-minute drive to the church.

The room was a bit small, but the mountain-view balcony offered breathtaking views of the mountains – probably the best in the area. The hotel's large wooden deck was also fantastic. However, there were very few staff in the restaurant, and it got incredibly busy during meal times. Be prepared to wait a long time to even place your order.

This hotel isn't worthy of its five-star rating, nor does it offer any reasonable value for money! 1. The room lighting is severely inadequate. You can't read or work on a computer. Even with an extra lamp provided, the light is still terrible. There are only three mini light bulbs in the ceiling! The staff tried to brush it off, blaming 'design aesthetics.' 2. There's no wardrobe in the room, making it impossible to properly organize and store personal belongings. Throughout my stay, clothes were either crammed into my suitcase or scattered around the room. 3. The bathroom sink countertop has cracks, and the faucet is loose and wobbly. The overhead shower's water temperature is impossible to adjust properly; you have to turn the knob millimeter by millimeter to get a suitable temperature. 4. The gaps in the wooden floorboards are wide enough to fit a finger. Again, the staff claimed this was a 'design feature' of the hotel. Some rooms have slightly narrower gaps, but the issue still exists. 5. The room has absolutely no soundproofing. Conversations in the hallway and doors slamming shut are clearly audible from the room. 6. There's no TV in the room, nor even standard amenities like a coffee maker – facilities that even lower-tier hotels in Georgia provide. An iron and ironing board have to be requested separately from the front desk. 7. The upholstered armchair shows clear signs of wear, pilling, and stains. 8. The windows don't have mosquito screens. When you go out onto the balcony, you can directly see the occupants of the neighboring room through the metal railing. And the most outrageous part: it seems the hotel owner is anti-Russian and has specifically instructed staff to only communicate with guests in English. There's also a yellow and blue flag displayed behind the glass at the hotel lobby entrance. Spending money to stay in such a hotel leaves a very unpleasant feeling. All these issues are completely unacceptable for a hotel claiming to be five-star. Don't forget, this room costs upwards of 1800 yuan per night. It's simply disgraceful!

After reading online reviews, I had already lowered my expectations before checking in. Besides the perfect view, both the hardware and software were subpar. The room was small, facilities were basic, water temperature was unstable, and service was almost non-existent.
