Great hotel, old fashioned service with staff that really want to go that extra mile for their guests. Dropping in well before booking in time, in the hope of using the car park, we couldn't have been made more welcome to alleviate the massive congestion, I ventured forth to make the request. "Absolutely no problem" said the gentleman on duty. He then visited the rooms allocated to us, confirmed they were ready so booked us in early. My daughter in the main house and my wife and I in the Coach House annex. Perfect located in the centre of town with a large private car park means no crawling round streets in the search for a space. The hotel itself is out of yesteryear with very spacious accommodation. A residents lounge with plenty of large leather sofas & chairs and plenty of games/cards for times when weather can keep you indoors. Nice, well stocked bar with fairly reasonable prices which does encourage residents and public to take advantage of the facilities. 2 accommodation areas. The old house or the Coach House Annex, a set of rooms created within what I presume may have been the stable block. All furnished to a very high (classical) standard, again plenty of space unlike its more contemporary counterparts. The gardens were lovely and although we went walkabout in the town, were envious of those sitting around having snacks and drinks in the sunshine - very quintessential English scene. The entire stay was so pleasant, we will certainly look to staying overnight again when visiting Bourton. Stow Lodge Hotel Restaurant We decided to eat in the restaurant so made our booking. Later, on arriving in the restaurant we were promptly shown to our table, given an apology that they were rather busy and as a result, service may be a little slower than normal. Well if the service we received was slow, I'm glad it wasn't fast otherwise we would have been out before eating!! Excellent service with no delays, in our opinion anyway. We gave starters a miss and went for Lasagne (x2) and Duck with orange & cranberry. All the meals were excellent. The lasagne with too much cheese for my wife but it could always be removed, but perfect for my daughter. The duck came with a good selection of veg and although it appeared a tiny piece of duck breast, it was more than ample - appearances being very deceptive. Lovely tasting and well recommended. Deserts of Strawberry Pavlova and an amazing Affogato Al cafe set the meal off. Breakfast next morning was another excellent experience and there is no doubt, we'll be back.
