The location is fantastic, right by the lake, and just a 600m walk from Kami-Suwa Station. The newly renovated hot spring bath on the top floor offers breathtaking views of Lake Suwa, with two distinct pools: the 'Vermilion' iron-rich red spring and the 'White' clear ordinary spring. The Japanese-style room was standard and offered a side view of the lake. The food was quite ordinary. We received complimentary tickets for a swan boat tour of the lake, but unfortunately, the lake was frozen on that day, so we couldn't experience it.

For the price, I expected a bit more. The food and onsen were good, and the service was very good. However, the room felt off, it was warm in autumn, the air purifier looks not premium, and when I checked whether I could open the window, I noticed the upper window frame was quite dusty. There were also no additional amenities provided. For this price point, in this area and on a non-touristy date, I think it could have been better.

Service was excellent, room is very traditional Japanese style room. I expect I’m booking a lake-facing view room but that was not, a little disappointed. Location is easy to find and Osen was amazing.

This was the hotel I enjoyed most during my trip to Japan (the other two were also very good). It's a newly renovated hot spring hotel right on the shores of Lake Suwa. Facilities: The hotel offers a one-night stay with two meals, with breakfast and dinner included in the room rate. There's an indoor onsen on the 6th floor and another terrace onsen with a lake view. They have red and white baths, hence the name "Red and White." The restaurant is on the 2nd floor, where we serve breakfast and dinner. The first floor is also spacious and clean, with a welcome glass of sparkling water. Cleanliness: Every room was spotless, especially the onsen area. Ambience: Because it's located on the lake, most rooms offer a lake view. Our room was the smallest in the hotel, but it was spacious enough for two people (it could sleep up to four). The lake view is a bit off-center, but you can still see a bit. Just across the street from the hotel is the lake, and hotel guests can take a free boat ride. The boats are rarely crowded, and the scenery is truly beautiful. In August, in addition to the famous Lake Suwa Fireworks Festival, there's also a 10-minute fireworks display every evening, visible from the lakeside. Service: The service was excellent. Mr. Lee (or Li), a Chinese-speaking staff member in the restaurant on the second floor, was truly wonderful. His detailed explanation of the dinner provided a deeper understanding of the ingredients and cooking methods for each dish. After dinner, we headed up the mountain to watch the sunset (the setting for Lake Itomori in "Your Name"), and since it wasn't easy to get a taxi down, the hotel provided flashlights for us. They also helped us get a taxi the next morning. Overall, this is a hot spring hotel with excellent service. Highly recommended!

The room was quite small for the price. The cost was basically all included in the dinner. The kaiseki meals were different for each of the three nights, but the quality was average. The Japanese male waiter at the front desk was a bit eccentric.
