Atour Hotel Suzhou Bao'en Temple Taohuawu Street

The hotel was a bit hard to find after exiting the subway station, I had to walk quite a distance. I'd recommend taking a taxi. The breakfast porridge selection was very limited.

The location is easy to find, and they offer free parking. The environment is beautiful and great for photos. Plus, they have free laundry service where you just send your clothes to the laundry room, and the staff will wash them and return them to your room. The restaurant also has a wide variety of breakfast options.

The hotel is very close to Suzhou Station, and getting a taxi is convenient. Downstairs from the hotel is the Lotus Market, a convenience store, and nearby are Wenchang Pavilion Coffee Shop and various other dining options. Late-Night Congee: Starts at 9:30 PM, with two types of congee, two kinds of steamed dim sum, and some pickled vegetables to go with the congee. It’s perfect for a light late-night snack – easy to digest and doesn't feel heavy.

Atour always delivers a pleasant surprise. The hotel's courtyard is beautifully laid out with a charming design. Their evening congee is a lifesaver for business travelers. However, if you're visiting on a weekend, be aware that traffic in the old city can be incredibly congested – a 2km walk often takes half an hour. Weekdays are much better for getting around.

Ambiance: Fantastic, very clean and reassuring. Service: Excellent! The room had a mini-fridge stocked with mineral water, tea, and even Coke! So thoughtful. The disposable toothbrush and toothpaste were also good quality, not the cheap kind.

This was my first stay at an Atour hotel, and I chose it because of its proximity to the Lotus Market. The hotel has a beautiful, Suzhou-style garden aesthetic throughout. Unfortunately, it was fully booked on the day I checked in, so the lobby was incredibly crowded with tour groups, including many children and seniors, making it quite noisy. Some people were even sleeping in the 'sleep experience' area. The room itself was very clean, and I appreciated that the bath and hand towels came in individual packaging. I booked a 'Jimu' room, which was quite spacious. However, the biggest issue was the air conditioning; it kept fluctuating between hot and cold, which made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep. In the evening, they offered congee, which I understand is an Atour specialty, but the serving area was a bit messy with congee spilled everywhere, and the hot water dispensers were empty. I didn't see any staff around to assist. Perhaps I just picked the wrong time to visit.

The hotel environment is great, right next to the Lotus Market, and the service is very warm and welcoming. Whether I called in advance or asked questions at the front desk upon arrival, I always received very thoughtful answers. There are plenty of parking spaces at the hotel (though I still recommend not driving, as traffic in the surrounding area is unbelievably bad). The room size felt larger than other Atour hotels I've stayed at before. Even though this room was by a small river in the scenic area, the soundproofing was excellent, and I couldn't hear any noise from outside. It was a very good Atour experience, and I'll definitely choose to stay here again next time.
