Wanhe River View Inn (Shilu Branch, Shantang Street)

I had a very comfortable stay in Suzhou these past few days. The restaurants recommended in the guide were delicious, and they brought fresh fruit to my room every day. When I checked out, the owner even gave me two silk scarves as a gift. I had a wonderful time!

I booked this B&B for Xu Liang's Suzhou concert, and although it wasn't cheap, it was worth it. The environment and facilities were good, exactly as pictured. The location is excellent, very close to Changmen City Wall, and right next to Shantang Street for strolling (though I find Shantang Street less interesting than Pingjiang Road, but both are commercial ancient streets overall). I initially thought it would be noisy near Changmen Street, but it was actually very quiet at night, making for a comfortable sleep 💤. The owner offers personalized service through a private WeChat group, providing recommended travel routes and restaurants. The only minor downsides were that I thought the river view outside the window would be charming, but the water sometimes had a slight odor (closing the window helped), and the river nearby was under renovation, which was a bit of an eyesore. However, when sitting by the window, you can't really see that area anyway.

My baby loved it! Waking up in the morning, they sat by the bed for ages just watching the fish and little boats passing by – they were so happy. The owner is really warm and kind. Every day, fresh fruit was washed and delivered to our room. The experience was fantastic. The entire guesthouse is very clean and stylish, perfect for taking great photos.

This riverside inn is our top choice when traveling with kids! The rooms are spotless and the hygiene is excellent. The overall environment is peaceful and comfortable. The owner is incredibly warm and thoughtful, providing fantastic service. It's super convenient for sightseeing; close to all the major attractions, saving time and effort getting around. Right downstairs, there's an abundance of delicious food – you can't go wrong with any of it! If you're visiting Suzhou, book this place with confidence, you won't regret it. It's definitely the absolute best choice ✨

Staying here is perfect for exploring Suzhou's streets and alleys. The Yipu Garden, which I really like, is nearby, as is Chen Ji Mung Bean Soup, an old Suzhou classic, right opposite Yao Ji Soy Milk. The wontons and stir-fried meat dumplings at Tongdexing Noodle House, also within walking distance, were exactly to my taste. The room isn't big; if the owner converted it into a single room with a smaller bed, it would be even more suitable for solo travelers. The toiletries were well-stocked, and they even provided disposable bath towels and hand towels. Every day, they left a plate of fruit, some tea snacks, and even incense, which was a thoughtful touch. The owner provided excellent service.
