Mercure Suzhou City Center

Had a fantastic stay! The room was spotless, the automatic flush toilet in the bathroom was a nice touch, and the shower had great water pressure which made for a really comfortable experience. The front desk staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. The hotel's location is perfect – directly across from Pingjiang Road, and you can easily walk to Guanqian Street for some traditional pastries. Plus, it's just a short walk down the street to the Twin Pagoda Market and the Twin Pagodas themselves. Very convenient for getting around!

The Mercure Hotel is located at the intersection of Pingjiang Road and Ganjiang Road. From my king-size room, I could see the bustling Pingjiang Road right across the street. The room itself is decorated in a French style, clean, and a good size. The service was also excellent, with staff readily assisting with any request. Stepping out, Shungta Market and Dinghui Temple are to the left, and a short walk straight ahead leads to Pingjiang Road. Along this road, you can enjoy Pingtan performances at the Pingjiang Cultural Center, and at the very end are Humble Administrator's Garden and Suzhou Museum. For dinner, Guanquian Street's Taijian Alley area offers plenty of options. This location is truly ideal for a stay, and I would definitely choose Mercure again on my next visit.

The hotel's location is excellent, right across from the popular Pingjiang Road, and next to Shuangta Market. The noodle shop downstairs is also delicious. I'm not sure if it's because I booked through Trip.com, but they assigned me an end room, right across from the cleaning supply room. I kept hearing doors opening and closing, and they closed very loudly, so I didn't get a good night's sleep.

The room was pretty good. Facilities: Quite new. Service: The staff were all very nice. Location is excellent, really right on Pingjiang Road as soon as you step out. There are plenty of dining options nearby, which is convenient. Didn't try breakfast, but there are lots of places to eat around.

I booked this hotel in advance on Trip.com, mainly because of its proximity to Pingjiang Pedestrian Street, so I could just step out and start exploring. To my surprise, Pingjiang Pedestrian Street was right across the road, and I could walk all the way to the end. Apparently, there are three hotels at this intersection. Also, this hotel shares a parking garage with the one next door. There aren't many parking spaces, so we ended up taking a taxi whenever we went out. The hotel itself is quite clean, but I booked a deluxe king room. I was on the 5th floor, and there wasn't much of a view outside the window. The room was pretty minimalistic; the wardrobe for hanging clothes didn't even have a door – super minimalist, haha!

For convenience, I picked a 4-star hotel this time, but I've been fooled again. The soundproofing is terrible; it's like sleeping on the street. I only got about an hour of sleep all night. What's worse, I specifically requested a quiet room, and only upon arrival was I told this was the only available room, right by the street and the elevator. If you couldn't meet my request, couldn't you have called me beforehand? There were plenty of other hotels I could have chosen. They even suggested I try a different family room next time, but how am I supposed to know which family room isn't facing the street? They also tried to sign me up for a membership during check-in, which was a bad experience. To top it off, I broke out in a rash in the middle of the night, the AC wasn't strong enough, and the bathroom didn't even have a door, which was quite awkward. I definitely won't be coming back.

The hotel's location is absolutely unbeatable! Across the street, you've got the bustling Pingjiang Road, and behind it, the peaceful Dinghui Temple and Twin Pagoda Market, surrounded by all sorts of local eateries. It's the perfect spot to soak in the authentic vibe of Suzhou. The rooms are also spacious and clean, the breakfast is plentiful, and the service is very warm and welcoming. Aside from the lack of a view from the room window, I really can't find anything to fault!

The location is convenient, right across from Pingjiang Road, and it's easy to get to all the attractions by taxi. The room was clean and hygienic, and the hotel staff were patient and responsible. They even introduced us to Suzhou's unique features and tour routes before we arrived. The hotel feels safe; all deliveries are brought to the room by robots. Overall, it was a good experience.
