For my father's birthday, I chose the newest five-star hotel in Gusu District for this Suzhou trip. The Kimpton's architectural style, which blends traditional Suzhou gardens and water features with modern facilities and InterContinental's excellent guest services, made my father very satisfied with this year's birthday arrangements. Moreover, we unexpectedly encountered a snow scene after many years; that snowy breakfast time and the sunny departure will become unforgettable memories for our whole family. Of course, even a perfect jade has its flaws, so I'd like to offer some suggestions: 1. **Shoe-changing bench:** It's too light and easily slides when sat upon. The lower edge of the decorative painting behind it curves outward and could easily bump the back of one's head. This safety hazard definitely needs rectification. 2. **Luggage rack & drying rack:** For such a large room, there was no luggage rack. The only place that could barely accommodate a suitcase was also the only place to hang clothes. Freshly washed clothes inevitably drip, which is very impractical. I suggest adding a traditional retractable drying line in the bathroom and a drying rack in the south-facing courtyard. 3. **Privacy of the bathing area:** An open-plan modern design is fine for a king-size bed room, but it becomes awkward for a twin-bed room without a relatively enclosed bathing space. 4. **Bathroom door opening direction:** The outward-opening design is truly unreasonable, to the point that the bathmat can only be placed to the side, or the distance between the bottom of the door and the floor needs to be larger so it doesn't affect the mat when opening and closing. 5. **Switch locations are hard to find:** We couldn't find the switches for the two bedside lamps and the bathroom curtain for two days. I suggest that the concierge could briefly introduce the room facilities when escorting guests to their rooms to enhance the check-in experience, so guests don't have to waste time figuring out how to use them. 6. **Unstable shower water temperature:** The water temperature was slightly low on the first day but very comfortable on the second. 7. **Lighting:** The room is large, but the lighting points are a bit sparse, making the overall ambiance rather dim, especially on cloudy days and at night, which makes it difficult for guests with poor eyesight to see. 8. **Air conditioning system:** The heating was insufficient; it only met standards with the help of a space heater. 9. **Housekeeping service:** They were very friendly, but I hope they come to work not only with a smile but also with their brains. Although guests generally don't fuss over minor issues like forgetting things, such a work attitude is indeed unprofessional. After all, Kimpton Bamboo Grove is a boutique hotel under InterContinental, not a boutique guesthouse. Guesthouses can emphasize personal touch, but a hotel's foundation is standardization. 10. **Breakfast:** The Western options were generally good, especially the baked goods, which were quite decent by current hotel breakfast standards. They also offered heating service, and the butter and cream were in good condition. The freshly made French toast and seasonal panettone were also a pleasant surprise, actually meeting expectations. The pudding bread and pineapple buns are commendable. The cereal with milk and fruit yogurt area felt quite high-end for a basic room priced a little over 1000, and there were also simple options of three cheeses and fresh cold cuts. The only letdown was the scrambled eggs with milk, which were really not good – overcooked and bland. As a restaurant specializing in Su-style and Huaiyang cuisine, the Chinese breakfast selection was truly disappointing, especially the steamed items; none of them were up to par. The only satisfying item was the red soup noodles with braised pork, though from the perspective of Su-style noodles, these hard noodles weren't quite springy enough. But that's a minor issue, as many people prefer a softer texture. The red bean paste tangyuan (small glutinous rice balls) offered on the second day were quite good, with a rich bean paste. It would be even better if they could improve the heat retention, similar to how coffee was delivered to the glass room with a plastic lid on the first snowy day – that showed good awareness. Overall, the restaurant staff had excellent attitudes. What impressed me most was going for breakfast on the second day; they had already arranged seating based on my father's preference. Their proactiveness and enthusiasm in service were impeccable, especially the young women in green suits. The regular Huaiyang cuisine at Bamboo Grove Restaurant was also well-executed, but innovation in traditional dishes needs to be approached with caution. The professional skills of the waitstaff should be further trained to channel their enthusiasm for their jobs effectively and make the guests' dining experience even smoother.

The hotel is great, but the staff are even better. On the morning of my check-in, a butler named Amber (Anboxu) proactively added me on WeChat and sent me directions and information about hotel benefits in advance. She provided attentive service throughout my stay, which was very thoughtful! When I checked in at the front desk, a friendly young man said my room was being prepared and would be ready in about 10 minutes. After waiting for about 15 minutes, he said he wasn't sure why it still wasn't ready. I mentioned I was tired from driving and needed to rest, so he immediately upgraded me to Suite 6206. I commented that the number was very lucky because my birthday was tomorrow, the 6th, haha! He then said he would send a cake to my room in the evening, which instantly made me feel delighted! The breakfast at this hotel was excellent. Although the dining area wasn't huge and the staff uniforms were quite simple, everyone was dedicated and efficient, unlike some places where staff might look smart but are unengaged. The breakfast spread was also exquisite, with plenty of variety, unlike other places where the breakfast area is vast but there's nothing much to eat or nothing appealing. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and this will be my first choice next time I vacation in Suzhou!

I really loved the thoughtful design touches at this hotel. The light switches in the room were all pictogram-based, and the full-length mirror was a rotating, shelf-style one that could also hold small accessories. The bookshelf in the lobby looked like a large cabinet, and when closed, it resembled a traditional Jiangnan wardrobe. The whole environment felt very 'Jiangnan' – a new picturesque view with every step. It's a shame I visited in winter when not many flowers were blooming. I'll definitely be back, especially because the service was exceptional. They took great care of me and even helped arrange a quiet room. And the lobby's beloved dog, Kylie, was so cute, hahaha! I saw her when checking out and petting her head just washed away all worries. Staying at hotels in 2026 got off to a great start with the Kimpton in Suzhou! 🥰

Stepping into the Kimpton Suzhou, I was immediately captivated by the secret garden oasis in the old city. The two giant bronze trees in the lobby are a visual centerpiece, with light and shadow projected onto the walls, creating a landscape of mountains and water. It perfectly blends the garden's 'leaving white space' aesthetic with artistic installations, giving it a grand yet elegant feel. We were assigned a room with a moat view, featuring an incredibly soft and spacious king-size bed, ample for a family of three. Opening the window offered a direct view of Suzhou's old town. The overall room setup perfectly suited our vacation needs; a soak in the large bathtub instantly isolated us from the city's hustle and bustle. The breakfast was an even bigger surprise, with a dazzling array of freshly baked bread, and both Chinese and Western dishes. The freshly opened coconuts really brought a seaside vacation vibe. After breakfast, we could head to the luxurious gym to work off the meal; the sports facilities were comprehensive, catering to both relaxation and health. The Zhuhui 168 Bar outside the hotel was truly the highlight. Designed with waterside pavilions, the social hour from 5 to 6 PM offered a delightful and leisurely coffee experience. In the evening, the garden-themed creative cocktails allowed us to taste the essence of Suzhou, creating an incredible atmosphere. The overall service was also excellent. We maintained WeChat contact with Anbo throughout our stay, and a minor suggestion made at checkout was quickly addressed. It was truly wonderful, and I will definitely be staying at Kimpton Suzhou again.

Despite being here for a kids' football tournament, our whole family (dog included!) enjoyed a perfectly relaxing stay. The staff were all incredibly kind and attentive, responding promptly to every request. The service was exceptional at every point—the restaurant, reception, and pool. A truly outstanding experience. The location is excellent, surrounded by a great mix of convenience stores and restaurants. Venturing just a little further, you discover lovely streets brimming with the warm, lively vibe of local suzhou spots. We also found the information pamphlet in the room very helpful. I’ll definitely visit here again :)

This hotel is fantastic! It's nestled in a quiet spot but still in a vibrant, well-established commercial area. The rooms are clean, tidy, and well-laid-out. The small courtyard on the ground floor is great for smokers. I particularly loved the large bathtub (it would be perfect with a small partition though!). What truly stands out is the staff's incredible service awareness. Whether at the front desk, in the restaurant, or in the hallways, everyone smiles, greets you proactively, and makes you feel right at home. The breakfast restaurant is well-zoned, and there's a dedicated coffee bar where baristas prepare and deliver coffee right to your table. Plates are cleared quickly, and there's a great selection of both Western and Chinese dishes. The red soup noodles and fresh cream bread were a hit with my family – absolutely delicious! 😋

Our stay at the pet-friendly room in Kimpton Bamboo Grove Suzhou was delightful, as always, and perfect for traveling with our furry friend. The hotel is incredibly pet-friendly, offering spacious accommodations where our pet could move around freely. The surrounding area is quiet and elegant, with beautiful gardens and water features, making it ideal for leisurely strolls and dog walks. The ambiance is fantastic. The service was, as ever, attentive and thoughtful. The staff were gentle and accommodating towards pets, and their attention to detail made us feel warm, relaxed, and secure. My only minor complaint is that some of the room's hardware could use an upgrade. The bathroom's overall smart features are quite basic, and the toilet layout felt a bit cramped, making it slightly inconvenient to use. I hope they'll consider optimizing and upgrading this in the future. However, these minor flaws don't overshadow the overall excellent experience. The environment, ambiance, and the 'cherry-on-top' service (an idiom for exceptional service) are all big pluses, especially the pet-friendliness, which is a rare find for pet-owning families. This place is highly suitable for short getaways and relaxing stays, allowing your pet to enjoy a comfortable time with you. Despite the minor hardware shortcomings, the hotel is still highly recommended. We'll definitely bring our furry friend back again if we get the chance, and we look forward to experiencing even more refined details next time.

This time, I brought my child to stay at the Kimpton Bamboo Grove Hotel in Suzhou, and the overall experience was truly excellent. It was attentive and comfortable throughout, completely exceeding my expectations. We arrived at the hotel quite early that day and were initially worried about having to wait for our room, but to our surprise, the hotel had already prepared it in advance. The service was impeccable; our dedicated butler, Vickey, was responsive and amiable, fulfilling all our requests promptly. Knowing we were traveling with a child, she proactively arranged for a late check-out, allowing my child to rest properly without rushing. The concierge readily helped with our luggage, and all staff members greeted us warmly, showing thoughtfulness and professionalism at every turn. Upon check-out, they even thoughtfully gifted us a lotion identical to the one in our room, which was both considerate and practical—a small surprise that made us feel especially warm. From early check-in and room upgrade to late check-out and a parting gift, every detail reflected the hotel's regard and care for families traveling with children.
