Six of us spent the May long weekend at the Meta Hotel in Szczyrk, and unfortunately, our impressions are mixed. This was our second stay, and I think it will be our last. Unfortunately, our impressions haven't changed; in fact, they've worsened. For a price exceeding 10,000 PLN, we expected a higher standard of both service and organization. The rooms themselves are fine – clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. However, we were disappointed by the allocation of rooms without balconies and overlooking the parking lot, even though the hotel wasn't fully booked during our stay, and rooms with forest views were available. This approach to guests leaves a bad taste in the mouth. The hotel's service is very inconsistent. Some of the staff were polite, but there were also some completely unprofessional situations. I had a particularly unpleasant experience at the spa reception – the employee informed me that I had to arrive for a pre-booked treatment half an hour early because they had a limited slot, and "because of me" she would have to stay at work until 10:00 PM. Such comments are inappropriate and spoil the overall impression of the stay. Especially considering the prices charged at the spa, she should keep such comments to herself and be happy with the occupancy. However, I'm afraid this woman is working there as a punishment, as her behavior constantly crossed the lines of etiquette and good taste. Similarly, the service in the restaurant leaves much to be desired – at times chaotic and uninvolved. The meals were okay: breakfasts were really good, with a wide selection, but dinners were mediocre – the dishes were uninspired and somewhat monotonous. The barbecue dinner with the band was a disaster. This is all the more surprising given that the hotel has an excellent traditional and Asian restaurant, serving truly excellent food – it's clear the kitchen's potential is there, but it's not fully utilized in the package menu. The wellness area was also disappointing. Although there are certain rules (e.g., a quiet zone, no phones allowed), they are only sporadically enforced. A sauna employee noticed me briefly when I briefly checked the time on my phone, but he didn't react when children entered the saunas, screaming and running, or when other guests were having loud conversations, even shouting over each other. This inconsistency in following the rules is frustrating. The hotel's only clear advantage is the rooftop terrace with a pool and bar. It's a truly magnificent space with a beautiful view, and the bar staff were polite, professional, and created a friendly atmosphere. It's astonishing how dramatically the quality of service can vary within a single facility. In summary, the hotel has potential, good facilities, and a few strong points, but unfortunately, the overall picture is marred by service shortcomings and a lack of attention to detail, which should be standard at this price. The behavior of the spa employee was particularly outrageous. Comparing this hotel to other 4-star hotels in Poland, the Meta falls far short in many respects.
