Novel Hotel Manila

Hotels in Manila are a mixed bag. You have the luxurious casino resorts like Solaire and Okada, which boast top-notch facilities and excellent service. Then there are the older, historic hotels, such as The Manila Hotel, offering a rich 'Nanyang' (Southeast Asian) charm, but with somewhat dated facilities. Given the city's heavy traffic, location is absolutely crucial. I'd highly recommend prioritizing hotels in the safe and central areas of BGC or Makati.

This is by far the worst value-for-money hotel I've ever stayed at. Avoid at all costs! 1. The water-cooled air conditioner was so loud that I couldn't sleep all night. But with Manila's weather, you can't exactly turn it off. 2. They only provided bottled water on the first day; for the rest of my stay, I had to ask for it every single time. 3. The room had a really unpleasant odor. 4. The breakfast quality was terrible, with very few options and poor taste. However, because I booked several nights and they wouldn't allow cancellations, I had to stay. There's also almost nothing to do in the surrounding area. I really don't recommend this place… and the gym is also incredibly tiny.
