Monka Hotel

This place is super convenient, just a 2-3 minute walk from Longshan Temple Station, right across from Monga Night Market, and there's a convenience store nearby. The elevator is tiny though – once you put your luggage in, there's hardly any room left. There are only about three rooms per floor, and the elevator entrance is really narrow, right next to the stairs. I stayed on the 5th floor, and the hotel's light-up sign was right outside my window by the bed. It was already bright at night, but in the morning it was so bright it woke me up, I couldn't sleep at all. The curtains weren't very good at blocking it out.

First things first, the bed was too soft for my liking; it's a latex mattress which I'm not used to. The location, however, is excellent, right next to Longshan Temple and the MRT station, and there's also the Mengjia Night Market nearby.

The location is fantastic, right behind Longshan Temple, and it's only a 2-minute walk to the MRT station. Plus, the Mengjia Night Market is nearby.

The location is very convenient for transportation. However, the facilities are starting to show their age. For example, the shower head holder is unstable, and the water isn't as hot as it used to be. I've also noticed small insects crawling out from the wooden table in the room during two consecutive stays, and there were quite a few of them. I really hope the hotel can address this. The front desk service is friendly, and housekeeping is always on time. I would still consider staying here again in the future.

Clean and quiet, with convenient transportation. Although the room was small, I slept very well and would definitely come back again.

This was my second trip to Taiwan, and my first time traveling solo. My first hotel experience was absolutely terrible, so I looked for a place that seemed decent from the pictures, and many people said it was good for solo travelers. Overall, it's really great for solo travelers. Considering its location and other aspects, I highly recommend it. One of its biggest advantages is the location. It's very close to the subway, and the station isn't too big, making it easy to get around. The room condition was decent, and I particularly liked staying on the 5th floor because Longshan Temple was visible right from my window. There wasn't much noise. Both the morning and afternoon staff were incredibly kind and handled all my inquiries very well. Taiwan's famous whiskey shops, 'Pin Ge Yang Jiu' and 'Man Hua Yang Jiu', are both within a 5-minute walk. Haha. Rather than an inconvenience, it's just their system: the staff leave at 9 PM. So, if you arrive later, you might find an English printout on the door. If your flight arrives early in the morning, be aware that an Uber taxi will cost around 70,000 KRW (1500 TWD). Also, the elevator is really small. I'm a big guy, and with my luggage, it felt completely full when I rode alone. Even if you're staying on a different floor, the view from the rooftop is fantastic. It was great to grab some skewers and snacks from the night market right in front and enjoy them with a beer. There are surprisingly many strange hotels in Taiwan, but if I were to travel alone again, I would definitely revisit this one.
