Takeshi and his family run a very clean, welcoming guesthouse with lots of information provided both before and during our stay. The futons and the room we slept in were very comfortable, and we loved the fact that bikes were available to rent on the premises. The location is easy to get to, and having bikes to cycle rather than walk or take public transport to Ritsurin Gardens added to the fun. I also appreciated the effort Takeshi went to to ensure the bikes were in good working order, providing helmets and suggesting the best route to cycle. After 16 days in Japan, Guest House Wakabaya is up there with one of the best places we stayed.

I have stayed at many guesthouses but I must say that Wakabaya is as close to perfect as you can get: the friendly atmosphere, the well-planned and super clean interior and how the host Takeshi really took time and effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. He gave some really good advice for our visit, to take our breakfasts at the wonderful Mellow Café close to Hanazono Station and visit the superb modern onsen in Busshozan. Wakabaya is situated in a quiet neighborhood with good and frequent connections with central Takamatsu,

We had a great three-night stay here in the private room on the first floor. Takeshi was a wonderful host: he's genuine and friendly and made us feel right at home. He also was immensely helpful in recommending what to do in Takamatsu based on our interests. His English was very good, and he was always available and happy to chat. His attention to detail is everywhere -- from posting the current weather forecast every morning, to signs explaining how things work (the kitchen sink, the shower door, etc) in Japanese and English. The futons were comfortable, and everything was super clean and tidy. The guesthouse is fairly compact, and there were other families staying there at the same time, but we felt we had plenty of privacy when we wanted it, and could interact with others in the common area when we chose to. A bathroom or shower was always available when we needed one. We will definitely stay here if we return to Takamatsu!

The host is super friendly and gracious, and speaks excellent English. The place is sparkling clean and well organized. The location is residential, but close to a train station, therefore convenient for in-and-out shopping, dining, or sight-seeing. I highly recommend this guesthouse - better than hotels or ryokans.

We stayed at Wakabaya 2 nights, a family of 4 with our twins. The house was lovely, good location and the host Mr. Wakabaya was very nice and hospitable. We had a great time in Takamatsu, thanks to Mr. Wakabaya’s many tips on activities and restaurants. The rooms were clean, typical Japanese style in a typical Japanese house. We enjoyed our stay at Wakabaya guesthouse very much, and if we return to Takamatsu we will definitely stay there again. We absolutely recommend Wakabaya guesthouse!

I absolutely loved our stay at Wakabaya. As a tourist, it was wonderful to experience what a traditional Japanese house is like. I had never slept on a futon before and I found it very comfortable. The host is very friendly and gives great advice. I would recommend this guest house to anyone looking to have a unique experience in Japan.
