RIHGA Hotel Zest Takamatsu

The hotel room was very spacious, allowing us to fully open two 28-inch suitcases. The curry rice for breakfast was delicious. While it's a 15-minute walk from JR Takamatsu Station, it's very close to the shopping arcade, and there's even a Ghibli specialty store nearby, making shopping very convenient. From Takamatsu, it's easy to take a bus to Ritsurin Garden and Naruto Bridge, or a ferry to Naoshima. The sunset near the station in the evening was also beautiful, and you definitely shouldn't miss the 'bone-in chicken' from the yellow food truck in the station square – make sure to try it if you see it! Takamatsu is a very comfortable small city, and I'd love to stay a couple more days if I get the chance.

A very satisfying and pleasant stay. The room was clean and tidy, and the location was super convenient, right next to a commercial center and just a 10-15 minute walk to Takamatsu Station. The hotel service was excellent, and the front desk staff were very patient.

The room was incredibly small, and the price was ridiculously high. Perhaps the hotel has conference facilities, so many locals have to stay here. But over 600 a night for a hotel that claims to be a four-star international hotel but only offers three-star amenities is just awful. This was a terrible booking experience. Next time I'm in Takamatsu, I'll definitely choose Kenchō-dōri again. There's an intercity bus stop and a hot spring hotel nearby. We stayed two nights, which felt like throwing away 1200 yen (oops, 600 twice). I forgive myself, but the cost of this mistake was too high; my husband and I were both so disappointed. I really hope everyone avoids this hotel; it's just bad and stinks.

The advantage is that it's right next to Hyogo-cho, making dining and shopping very convenient, and bottled water is provided. The downsides are quite baffling; the toilet paper is even thinner than at other hotels, the kind that makes you worried it'll tear even after folding it multiple times.

I booked another night. The price for my original room type had gone up a lot online, so I had to switch to a slightly smaller room. The room was decent, at least there was space for my luggage, and all the other facilities were the same. Actually, it would have been cheaper to book directly at the front desk.

I booked an accessible room, and it was genuinely spacious. It's really comfortable to stay in a 35 sqm room in Japan. There was a slight odor when I first entered the room, but it cleared up after I turned on the air purifier. Downside: The soundproofing isn't great. Upside: Everything else is a plus. The location is excellent. There's an airport shuttle right downstairs, which costs 1000 yen and goes directly to the airport. There are frequent services, almost hourly. Location: Whether you're going to the airport, Takamatsu Port for island hopping, or the JR station, everything is within walking distance. It's a 12-minute walk to Takamatsu Port, which was perfect for our island-hopping itinerary. Mitsukoshi department store is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel, and it has an LV store with plenty of stock. There are also many choices for drugstores, restaurants, and cafes. The room was cleaned daily. One time, I forgot to hang the 'please clean' sign and thought it wouldn't be done, but when I returned to the room, it felt completely refreshed, which was a lovely surprise.
