Very comfortable stay. Call the hotel on arrival at Hirayu Onsen bus interchange for free pick up. Dinner and breakfast were fantastic. We appreciated the free amenities like probiotic drink, milk and ice popsicles. Onsen was top notch, especially in winter.

Just had an amazing time in this ryokan with a friend. The public bathroom in the open air - incredible, big, and also a lot of steam, along with the lighting of the lanterns, gives an incredible onsen-vibe! (But it was closed for cleaning at midnight, and not at one in the morning, as written in the brochure). There is also a sauna with a cold bath. After onsen, you can drink milk for free or eat ice cream from frozen juice. There is a separate paid lounge with unlimited beer, wine and whiskey. Private bathrooms are not bad, but not like public ones, plus they were constantly occupied by couples. The bath in the room itself is also not bad, but if you are tall, there may be problems with where to put your feet x) Dinner and breakfast were amazingly tasty. I especially liked the space on the street by the fire, where you can fry marshmallows or just sit after onsen to cool off with a strong drink) During the day we ride to Kamikochi, also a fantastic place)

A perfect hot spring hotel. Both breakfast and dinner were delicious, and the room had a private hot spring. The room was very spacious, and it was about a 10-minute walk to the ski resort. There are also many attractions nearby. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Ryokan Stay. Staff are so friendly and courteous. Rooms and facilities are very clean and very well maintained! What a wonderful, relaxing and energizing stay at Miyama Ouan. Would definitely return to stay again!

The hotel's location is quite tucked away, but since I was driving, it was very convenient. My favorite part was their private hot spring. I used it three times, and after each soak, there was complimentary milk to drink. They also offered exquisite breakfast and dinner, delicious beef, and late-night ramen. The staff provided excellent service and helped with luggage.

Ryokan is perfectly located not far from bus station. Cozy rooms, amazing kaiseki dinner and very special breakfast BUT If anything is needed - nobody will bring it to your room number (i.e. towel, spoon, fork), you could get it only at reception, which is far from hotel wings. Also on the day of leaving after hiking in montains I was not allowed to visit public onsen while collecting my baggage. The reason - I came later than "check-out time" - it costs nothing to the hotel, but the mood was ruined. I paid almost 600usd for a night and was expecting definitely another level of service.

Quite modern, public onsen is really nice. Private onsen can be used for free just have to queue up, good for couple. Food is nice, room is huge

As an onsen resort, the hotel locates away from public transport. However there is free shuttle bus runs between the hotel and the nus station. Advance booking is recommended, especially for the journey to the hotel. Staff were helpful and friendly. Free snacks and soft drinks were provided at the lobby and the lounge. Most rooms were spacious. Breakfast and dinner in elegant Japanese style were provided. The onsens, both indoor and outdoor, were well maintained.
