Refugio Lodge

We stayed here for four nights during a longer trip to Costa Rica. It's very central in Tamarindo (it's a small town, so most things are "central"). Perhaps the most delightful part of our visit was the host Augustin. He was very helpful in orientating us in Tamarindo and recommending good businesses in the area and fun activities to pursue. Moreover, he was very accommodating in lending us little knicknacks from the hotel for daily use so we didn't have to go and buy things ourselves. He even followed up with recommendations for our next stop. The hotel was nice and clean, and the room's air conditioning was excellent. Breakfast was included, and the food was very good. Prices are high in Tamarindo, so it was nice to have an included breakfast to help with the budget. The service was excellent as well. I would stay here again when visiting Tamarindo.

Staff was amazing and very helpful. Upon arrival we were told that there was sunscreen for us to use, only for all of the bottles to be empty. They did have cold water on tap available at all times, so that was really nice. Bathroom could use a lot of work, sink was coming off the wall, toilet didn’t flush on multiple occasions, the door in there didn’t close and shower pressure was very low. Our stay was during renovations so we were woken up every morning at 7 with loud bangs. They did have good breakfast and lunch options.

It was our first time in Tamarindo and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. This was a very central location in the middle of all the action. Beach is a couple minutes walk. Clean place great breakfast included and their cafe is was amazing as well. Would definitely recommend this if you're looking for a centralized place with loads of action.

Loved it!!!!! I was looking for a fun vibes hotel for my last 2 nights in Costa Rica, I was looking for a happy place with happy people, live music and this is exactly what I found in this hotel! Comfortable bed, perfect place for Yoga near the pool, including yoga mats, all you needs for the pool and the beach including free insects repellent, sunscreen, earplugs whatnot! Close to the bars, shops, beach, Langosta, everywhere! The staff is amazing, the live band was great, I was so happy - would definitely recommend and return!

We absolutely loved our stay at Refugio Hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The atmosphere has such a great vibe—relaxed, welcoming, and beautifully maintained. The staff was amazing and truly made the experience special with their kindness and attention to detail. The food was incredible, and every meal exceeded our expectations. Everything was very clean and well cared for, and the location is perfect. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

I've done quite a bit of travelling over the years and this was by far the best customer service I've ever experienced. Agustin and Juan both went so far above and beyond to make this an amazing experience.
