Hotel Uzbekistan

This hotel is iconic but definitely run-down and in serious need of renovation. The bed had bed bugs and the carpet cleanliness was questionable.

The hotel's location is excellent, right in the city center with two subway lines nearby. The rooms are spacious, though the facilities are a bit dated, which is understandable for an older, established hotel. The only downside was the breakfast; the selection wasn't great and felt a bit meh, plus it was very crowded, so we had to share a table.

The main advantage of this hotel is its convenient location right in front of Timur Square. It's less than a 30-minute taxi ride to both the airport and the train station, and practically everything is easily accessible from here with plenty of bus and subway options. It's also very close to shopping malls and pedestrian streets. You can walk to various supermarkets, both big and small, within 20-25 minutes. There are many parks nearby, offering a pleasant environment perfect for a stroll or relaxation. The ground floor lobby has been renovated, and the restaurant and lobby bar facilities are much improved. While the rooms haven't been redecorated, they do have new air conditioning units and are kept very clean. There's even a currency exchange counter still available in the lobby, which is incredibly convenient. The breakfast is quite extensive, with coffee, juice, hot and cold dishes, salads, and a good variety of fruits. The homemade yogurt is delicious, and several pastry options change daily. Besides dried nuts, they also offer peanut brittle. The service is excellent, and the front desk staff speak very good English, making communication smooth and easy.

Tired rooms, uncomfortable beds, and issues with both internet and hot water. The only plus was the location.
