Lake Taupo Holiday Resort

Accommodation was excellent clean, quiet, comfortable beds and had everything we needed. Friendly receptionist to deal with over the phone and on check in. Loved watching movies in the heated pool & swim up bar is great. My family had fantastic time & we will definitely be back.

I highly recommend this beautiful experience with your whānau. My son who is autistic really enjoyed his time there for two days. This resort has a sensory room that left me speechless. We stayed in there for a while and as a parent, I felt this was very special for us to ensure my son felt, safe, happy and calm. Thank you Lake Taupo Holiday Resort. We weill be back. Special mention to all the fun activities for kids (Bike rides, jumping pillow, playground and city fitness gym 5 mins up the road for them gains. Staff member 'Pai' also made our trip a memorable one. Thank you for going above and beyond for my family. We will be back 100%

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! Such a lovely resort, loved the films by the pool and the swim up bar. kitchen, toilets, showers all absolutely fantastic couldn’t recommend it more!!!! In a campervan so only paid around £40 a night for me and my girlfriend but would’ve paid way more!!!!

Stopped for the night on returning home to break our trip. Went for a shower at 7.30am only to find there was no hot water once I had stripped. Tried another shower in the same block with the same result. Then went to another shower block but still had the same result. About half way through checking out, before being able to complain about the showers the receptionist reached for her cell phone and texted a message to someone. I thought to my self, how dammed rude she was.

Although I was initially sceptical about the higher than normal cost to stay at this campsite, after staying there I think it was well worth the extra money. The pool area alone is just fantastic, like a resort. But I also particularly appreciated that the sites weren't just patches of dirt like at most other campgrounds, which ends up making everything dusty and dirty. I liked that the sites that had more dirt had big mats to cover it, and there were also lots of sites with good quality grass. The playground and games facilities were also above and beyond anything else I had experienced in other campgrounds.

Always a great experience here with the family! High end price wise but we find you really get what you pay for. Great amenities well kept grounds and clean bathrooms.

Me and my whānau absolutely loved this resort, the team are friendly and great amenities. Definitely recommend pool noodles as we notice on peoples first days they don’t have them so we did gift our 5 pool noodles when we left but we were okay with that!!! We will definitely be back

My daughter (10yr) loved the pool area and made new friends! personally I found it gross, (akin to human soup) when you move away from the edges it is very deep and I was even told off for drinking water from my water bottle (?!?!) The kitchen areas were really small with no communal pots / pans to use, we ate our dinners outside on a picnic blanket. It was basically tent city, super busy, very quiet at night though. Not really my jam, glad I went, but wont go again.

I've been coming here for years with 3 close families. Everytime I would have rated this a 5 except for what I consider two major issues. The whole campsite and facilities are top notch and unquestionably the best in nz. 99% of the staff are awesome and despite this review ill probably go back again. The first 3 days we were there there were code browns in the pool. One I got a very good look at. LTHR is definitely not responsible for the code brown but they are 100% responsible for how they handle it. This is what I witnessed. 1. We told the bar 2. Bar immediately told the pool attendants 3 Pool attendants eventually found a net then wandered round trying to find the poo. 4. After 5 to 10 mins of this they discovered they couldnt reach it whilst standing on the edge of the pool 5. They then handed it to a patron to fish it out. 6. He fished it out and that was that. Note that I stopped a kid who was unwittingly heading mouth open straight for it. Clearly no policy on what to do in these situations, and it is just dangerous to not close the pool and adjust the chemicals until you can be sure its sanitary again. The second major thing was staff yelling at people to get out of the pool before the closing time of 9pm. There was an A league soccer game which would have finished at 8 55 but they turned it off at 8 45. 2 years ago they ran it till the game finished at 9 15 When yelling at everyone to get out they said "I want to go home so get out" . Harden up buttercup. We have all worked extremely hard to be able to bring our kids here and its only just 9 o'clock.
