Fleets of mosquito!! We open the window as it was stuffy when we entered the room. Then, we were in shock when we saw infestation of these insects crowdee round the ceiling lights. Fortunately, the room aircon is cold and thus resulting them to be lethargic. And we went around the room and smashed each.

Fantastic location right in front of Lake Taupo and ＜5 min drive from nearby eateries and supermarket. Apartment has everything you need except for pots / pans (despite the kitchenette having an electric stove top) and the room took quite awhile to warm up.

Unexpectedly, this was the most satisfying motel of our two-week North Island trip. Initially, we changed our itinerary, resulting in two separate bookings for three nights in different room types. The friendly white lady at the front desk upgraded our room so we didn't have to change rooms for three nights. The motel had a first-row lake view, a central location, and was only a 2-minute walk from the airport and McDonald's. Everything was well-equipped, with an oven, exhaust fan, and tableware… everything was clean and tidy. Finally, the owners also helped us resolve a small issue we had while grilling steak. We were extremely satisfied and highly recommend it to everyone.

During our ten-day trip to New Zealand, we stopped in Tuopo to see the coolest McDonald's and the stunning lake views. The hotel's view was impeccable, overlooking a lake the size of Singapore, and even a dazzling array of stars at night. Tuopo's city center is a 5-minute walk away, and around the corner is a cool McDonald's, making the hotel's location superb. We booked a two-bedroom apartment, and the bed was very comfortable, which the kids enjoyed greatly. It also had air conditioning. The kitchen was fully equipped for cooking, but it's important to note that guests are responsible for cleaning all used utensils. The host gave guests a small bottle of milk upon check-in. The only downside was that we checked out too early. While the host was quite friendly, he was a bit too direct in reminding us of the rules and check-out time, which felt a bit unfriendly.

Hotels in Taupo are expensive, but this one was the cheaper one I found at the time. The man at the front desk also gave me fresh milk, which was really delicious. They even called the 800 number for me because I didn’t have a local mobile phone card. But the hotel does not count as a true lake view room. Only some rooms face the lake, and the others are on the side.
