Hotel Excelsior Venice

"Absolutely devastated by my recent experience at a supposed 5-star hotel. After paying a hefty $500 per night, I arrived to find my reservation non-existent. Hours of waiting, uncleaned rooms, and endless frustration later, I'm left questioning the very definition of hospitality. Disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. #Unacceptable #CustomerServiceFail #5StarHotel?"

Great hotel to stay in….. would prefer is hotel shuttle accommodate the luggage movement to and from the hotel

An excellent hotel for a pleasant stay in Venice. Free shuttle to Piazza San Marco, delicious food, nice sea.

This hotel was absolutely stunning in every way. The rooms have a moorish theme that feels a bit outdated, but it’s spacious and comfortable. Roberta, the duty manager was an amazing human. She showed us all the places we needed to see in Venice and mapped it out for us. All the staff went above and beyond (minus the fact that my sunglasses went missing from my room unexplained, that was disappointing). We arrived a day after the Venice Film Festival has finished so it was very quiet. We had the beach to ourselves, the sea was clean and amazingly refreshing with gorgeous sunrise views. The Blue Bar had food available all day and their Tiramisu was to die for. The pool area was clean and nice but it closed early (at 6pm I believe). The breakfast buffet was divine and the hotel was grand and beautiful. Note that the hotel offers complimentary shuttles to Venice and from Venice, however not if you have luggage. Only if you’re doing a day trip to the city. If you are taking luggage to head to the train station or airport, you need to book a private water taxi (approx €90). Worth it though…only about 20 mins to the train station and the hotel will arrange it for you. You can also take public ferries but they are slower and packed with people.

My husband & I stayed for 5 nights & it’s was a wonderful experience. The hotel is steeped in so much history & the views of the sea are wonderful to wake up to each morning. The swimming pool is delightful & plenty of beds with attentive staff looking after you. The complimentary private boat to San Marco is a wonderful touch from the hotel which gives you so much freedom & flexibility, you can catch some breathtaking sunsets if you time it right. Twelve people are allowed on the boat & they run every half an hour & we always got on. It’s so magical leaving the lido & approaching San Marco & it only takes 15 mins or so. It was fun coming home underneath the stars too! Our grande deluxe room was lovely & spacious with a huge bed & plenty of storage space. All the staff at the hotel were wonderful, so attentive & friendly. The breakfasts were delightful. So much to choose from & if there wasn’t anything you fancied or you couldn’t be bothered perusing yourself then you could always order something at the table too. Coffees & teas poured at the table. Complimentary Prosecco too if you were in the mood for some fizz. The fresh honey comb & yogurt was delicious. It really is a piece of heaven staying at the Excelsior. You can book a cabana on the beach but this is an extra if you’re a more of a beach bunny. The cocktails in the blue bar are superb. There’s a very modern gym too & yoga classes etc or a personal trainer if you require. We didn’t make the spa as we were so relaxed at the pool before or after our sightseeing. A lovely touch too when we returned to the room & I had a birthday cake & candle & card from the manager & hotel, that was a very thoughtful touch & much appreciated thank you. Hotel Excelsior you are truly magical & we will be back!
