We have cracking meal at the White horse. Parmo was fantastic, staff were very friendly and welcoming, paired up with a nice atmosphere we had a lovely lunch time experience. Highly recommended especially if you are down south hunting out a famous teeside parmo. The rest of the menus certainly looks good so will be sure to return.

Lovely meal out tonight with my husband, we had seen a post on Facebook advertising the classic teeside parmo so had to go try it as we are originally from up north. The food was good the chicken parmo was tasty and decent chips and garlic mayo, lovely little homely pub nice atmosphere and couldn’t fault the staff, will definitely be returning for another parmo!!

We are repeat visitors at the White Horse Inn. In an era where village pubs face challenges to remain open, the White Horse strives to remain the real deal. A thatched roof, local clientele, a good beer selection, a restaurant, and helpful staff all come together to make a visit worthwhile. The three rooms above the pub are comfortable, quiet, clean, and good value, but note that if one has mobility issues, access to the upstairs will require climbing stairs. There is no breakfast at the White Horse, but the Hillier Garden Centre restaurant is only a 15 minute walk/5 minute drive away and opens for brekkie at 9:00 all days except Sunday. The pub also closes Sunday evening after serving lunch. If you are looking for a good pub inn experience, you won't go amiss here.

Beautiful old building. Food and drink was top notch. Room was spacious and the bathroom though quite small, was well appointed. No issues with external noise despite being so close to the A303 dual carriageway. The surrounding area is beautiful.

We stopped off for some dinner on Tuesday night. We recieved a warm, friendly welcome from the blonde lady behind the bar, I think I caught her name as Clare but i could be wrong. The chap showed us to our table, handed us menus and took our drinks order promptly with good humour. Our food was delicious, piping hot and plenty of it - my husband particularly loved the belly pork.. cooked to absolute perfection. The chap was attentive and came back to check if we had everything we needed. A fantastic little pub with friendly chatty staff, not robots behind the bar like we have had before in some other pubs. We look forward to visiting again!

A huge disappointment. The place was almost empty apart from one old man at the bar with his even older spaniel. After about five minutes, a man in a t-shirt with "staff" on he back appeared and said "Yes?" We asked about lunch and were told it was being served - "Pick up a menu as you go through". It was tipping down outside or we would have left then, but we risked it. Every single thing on the menu was obviously microwaved, and there was no smell of food, no welcome, no chef or other staff unless you count the chap who switched the microwave on and off,no other customers except four bikers who only ate vast quantities of chips, and when our (completely under cooked) whitebait arrived it wasn't even hot. We were both ill afterwards, This has been for years and years the most wonderful pub and restaurant, our go-to place for cosseting and comfort, and it was my husband's 80th birthday. If you are anther former regular, we would urge you to think again.

Called in for lunch and a break today with my wife whilst travelling along the 303. Close to the road so that’s good for those travelling the road but I couldn’t hear it which is also good. Good ambience and good food although I would have liked my beef burger to have been cooked more. That of course is a personal choice and it is also a reflection of the quality of the burger as they didn’t feel it was necessary to burn it. I think they should ask your preference. We sat inside but garden looked nice. Roomy car park.

Tired decor, damp smelling, bedrooms awash with noise with the music from the bar, dreadful (dreadful) food, untrained (but pleasant) staff. And set underneath a flyover. Terribly sad and depressing place to stay....even as a stop over on the way home. Shelf falling off bathroom wall, view from window of flyover, smashed up lamp shade....oh god, depressing place. Sad.

We booked the White Horse to break our journey after flying into Gatwick. Arrived at 4pm, found our way into the bar, as no separate reception. Friendly lady showed us the room and told us about the evening meal times. Room was large with a sofa and looked out over the garden and car park. It was very hot, so glad of the fan in the room. Room was very clean and it was a comfortable night despite the heat. Pub garden is lovely, so had a drink or two then went inside to eat, where the food was freshly cooked and very good. Evening barman may have been new as quite unsure of the till and slow serving, which was fine. What I didn’t like, was he was half way thru taking our food order, when he went serve a local guy another beer, then came back to carry on with us. The morning was a little odd, no breakfast option, which I knew, and as there appeared to be no one on site at all, so we just closed the door of our room and left. But a decent stay, and would return no problem.
