The hotel is a little gem! The staff are super friendly, very professional and very attentive. The rooms are warm, comfortable and very clean. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was delicious as was the breakfast. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning. Thank you for a lovely stay🙂

Here for two nights whilst attending a wedding in petham So we only slept here and had two breakfasts which were delicious with a few nice unexpected additions like advacdo on sour dough with egg and onion it was really nice there was fresh porridge - pancakes etc all freshly cooked good hot coffee pots and tea etc Lovely grounds well kept Lots of outside sweating areas Large car park No lift to the upstairs bedrooms may be an issue for some. We had room 15 it was very clean well equipped tea coffee facility a fridge iron safe tv windows that open! Heating comfy bed BUT the shower over the bath was appalling no water pressure at all trickle of water 💦 unable to shower in it. Only a liquid soap supplied and a shower cap no other cosmetics🤷‍♀️

Our first impressions of this hotel were simply wow. The grounds and building are amazing. It was just as impressive inside. We were both happy that we were staying in such a beautiful place and this continued as we entered our room which had amazing views and was very cozy. Unfortunately this feeling was dampened when we picked up the rooms welcoming pack. In all the hotels we have ever stayed in, never has there been a list of extensive charges for lost to damaged items. It states that if you break or lose items whilst staying or after leaving the hotel your credit card that they are holding will be charged. Isn’t this obvious and expected by the guest? It wasn’t very welcoming. Moving on, our room was very clean but the bathroom felt tired and needed a bit of maintenance done. The toilet seat was loose, shower curtain rail had rusted, window latch was broken. All these things could be fixed at such a small cost. We did point out to reception that the toilet seat was very loose and to be fair was sorted out immediately. One thing for sure about this hotel is that all the staff are very friendly, helpful and are attentive to all your needs. Apart from these niggling issues we would definitely want to return at some point.

In the area on business and stayed at Howfield Manor for one night. Interesting building in nice grounds. Food at dinner was good, I had Duck which was chef's recommendation. Served by young Isabelle who coped well under pressure, despite being there for only 2 months. Room clean and comfortable, although had to ask for TV to be sorted as it was not working on arrival.

A lovely old building with well kept grounds. We only stayed one night, which was a Sunday so diner was the usual choice of roast beef, chicken or pork with all the trimmings and it was very good. Breakfast was also very good too, I had eggs benedict (eggs cooked but runny yolk) and my wife had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon which she said was also very good. Only gripe: the ice machine was broken and apparently had been for a week, so get some ice delivered in giant bags. Our room (No16) was large, clean and pleasant but the bathroom could do with a refresh, bot the radiator and the shower curtain pole were rusty. A good location though and if I was in that area I would happily stay again.

We really loved this hotel. We came for a friend's wedding but stayed on a extra day to explore the local area. The hotel is a gorgeous old manor house dating back hundreds of years. It is nicely preserved and you can tell it is lovingly maintained. It features some great features like the old well in the dining area, fireplace in the bar area and lots of wooden beams. The hotel is also surrounded by lovely gardens full of all kinds of plants from roses, to apples trees and fig trees. There is also a massive lawn and it is nice to have a drink and look out across the grass. The room was very nice with a big four-poster bed as the focal point. The general ambience of the hotel is one of calm and cosiness. The breakfast is a la carte and everything I tried was delicious and high quality. Another thing that has to be mentioned is how nice the staff are. They are all so friendly, polite and helpful. In particular I'd like to thank the Manager (Kevin) who looked after us so well during our stay and Adam who did a great job in the restaurant. Everyone was very accommodating of our young children who were staying with us. We hope to return sometime! I'd highly recommend this as a wedding venue or for a short leisure break.

We stayed for one night prior to a cruise from Dover. On arrival the buildings and grounds look spectacular. Checked in quickly and our room was ready earlier than the 3pm start time. The room was very hot due to it being the hottest day of the year, but was clean, though dated and needing an upgrade. In the evening we ate in the restaurant on site. The food was good, though the french fries were obviously frozen though advertised as Skin on chips. I realise that this is because we noted that there was only one chef cooking as well as doing his own dishwashing. The rest of the hotel that evening was being run by two young men. One a local lad the other from Asia. Both men were charming and helpful, though rushed off their feet serving at the bar, restaurant, reception, etc. Service suffered with long waits, items forgotten, and us having to eventually chase one down to order deserts. On the menu they advertise filter coffee and Americano. I ordered an Americano from one man, and told only filter was available. The other man then came and said they had fixed the machine and I could have my Americano. What actually arrived was filter. I had to give up at this point. Breakfast was the highlight of the stay. Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for myself were perfect. Full English for my wife, she said was good. I doubt we would return.
