Mindil Beach Casino Resort

We were downgraded our room and not told until checking in that our booked room was u available due to renovations. It was clear the renovations have been underway for a long time and they could have let us know well in advance. 2 different friends were upgraded to a lagoon room room. We were downgraded to twin beds in a very rundown room. There is no power beside the bed. The power is inconveniently on the other side of the room. It was not until leaving that the bed moved and we found an outlet behind the bed. You would need to pull the bed away from the wall to allow for your charging sockets to be plugged in. There is no headboard to keep pillows on the bed, so it needs to be against the wall. The bathroom was terribly. Chipped tiles, chipped door and frame, worn bathtub with spots of enamel missing, a rusted bin. No car parking was available we were told because it was a Saturday night. Not sure that matters when we booked months in advance. Also not when we saw all the empty spots in the hotel carpark the next morning. Unacceptable accommodation for the cost. We attended a function at the casino, so and the location was convenient. But that was all. If we knew the room would be so dilapidated, we would have stayed at nearby Cullen Bay and uber down the hill. The staff did not care that we had booked in advance. They didn’t care we were part of a function that had spent a lot of money at their venue. The breakfast and drink was understandable, but the lack of communication was totally unacceptable. The falsely took bookings from 3 different people in our function group who did not get the rooms they booked due to renovations. Oh, and the critters are cute but out at night time, foraging outside the hotel doors.

Pros: + The hotel itself was clean and quite nice Cons: - Location is so inconvenient, far from everywhere. They have a small shop at the hotel but don't even sell some basic stuff. Mainly just souvenirs. - Service is bad. The staff were quite rude. I asked to borrow an adapter, but they said they don't give those to guests because there was an incident when a customer didn't return it - so they just assume I would steal it too? I asked another staff, and she just dismissed me like I was a nuisance. The city were far, so I couldn't do any work, even my phone was dead throughout my stay. - Amenities were also very lacking. I couldn't find trashbins in the room (it was hidden in one of the shelves), there were no toothbrushes, no USB charger, not even side lamps. They have lights in the room that was too bright, so i just turn the TV on for a decent low light. - The cleaning staff also entered the room without knocking, and was rushing me to check out quickly. Note that it was only 9 AM and I have just returned from my breakfast.. didn't even have time for shower. Overall: Seems like the place itself isn't really designed for accommodation.. local Darwinians come here for the Casino. If that's your vibes, then this place could be decent, but if you're here just to stay and enjoy the resort to just relax, this is probably not it. Considering the price - I would recommend you stay in other hotels in the city for just half the price (or even less), and just come here for the casino or the pool.. they have a nice pool area with stunning sunset views.

Beautiful hotel. Great swimming pool area.

Everything was excellent during our stay, very friendly staff, great food options and facilities and the location and sunsets were beautiful.  The only let down was not being told there was a function on and being moved from bar to bar as they closed.

Facility and room look old, nice pools next to the beach. Service average.

Unreported room. Aircon kept turning off. Expected more.

Good location, having the casino there is great. We had a suite but it’s looking tired and I would suggest management need to clean the tiles as they are quite dirty. Overall ok
