The Poplars Rooms & Cottages

Stayed in the Granary Cottage for 2 nights. Very clean, decor of a high standard and very well equipped. However, on arrival there was no one to meets us or show us where to go. Half an hour, and 5/6 phone calls later the owner called from France to say the cottage was open and ready for us to help ourselves. I’m not in the habit of entering property uninvited and a quick message from Amanda explaining would have saved all the hassle. A lovely place but very impersonal. The TV didn’t work either.

My wife and I went for a three day break we found that the Poplars was a wonderful place to stay with good off-road parking. The room was exceptionally clean well equipped with a large comfortable bed. We did not initially book breakfast however we did decide to have breakfast two mornings of our stay and what a lovely breakfast it was, it was cooked to perfection with quality ingredients and some of the best Black pudding I have tasted. It is a bit of a walk into Thirsk but its flat we are both in our sixty's and we walked there and back ok however if you are not up to it Buses and Taxis are plentiful. The Train station is close, and you have two pubs within easy walking distance that do food. To summarise I cannot praise Amanda's diligence enough (Thank you Amanda) we shall go again.

The perfect place just to escape for a few days . Home from home and a warm welcome. What more could anyone want. Definitely will be staying again. Highly recommended

The Poplars was everything we hoped for! A beautifully clean, comfy and cosy room was home for 3 nights and we enjoyed every moment. The shower room was spotless with an amazingly powerful and hot shower. Very invigorating and I didn't want to get out...it was sooo good! Our host, Amanda, was friendly and chatty, with excellent knowledge of the local area and eateries. But the best eatery....? Amanda's breakfast room! Each morning we enjoyed a plentiful and delicious, freshly cooked breakfast. The food was hot and of a good quality, and each day we left with full tummies and Amanda was left with empty plates and the washing up! Thoroughly recommended and we would love to return.

We stayed in thirsk to attend a wedding and booked the granary cottage for the weekend on a B& B basis it was lovely , the cottage is situated couple of miles from thirsk center and right next to train station. We felt the cottage had everything we needed it was so comfortable and peaceful , the host Amanda and friend Marie were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble from the booking to the day we left. Thank you. we will definitely be returning.

So pleased I came across this property. I stayed two nights in the Granary cottage and found it be utterly delightful. Being a fairly frequent traveller I can honestly say this is the nicest I’ve ever stayed in. Owners too are so relaxed and easy to deal with. Hope to visit again and this time stay for longer. lovely home. I would go back tomorrow. Amanda is a lovely lady as are her little girls. Our bedroom was spotless and very comfortable. Great breakfast as well. It's such a convenient place for the town centre and travelling to other resorts.

We’ve just returned home from another fantastic stay at The Poplars. We stayed in Rose Cottage and had a wonderful stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean as always and has recently had two new stunning bathrooms. The Poplars is the prefect place to stay for a time of rest and relaxation in outstanding accommodation. Thank you and we look forward to returning again in the summer.
